Hard time deciphering questions about jobs.

I have a rough time applying hexagram images to questions about a job. So I'll defer to the experts. A friend of mine told me about a job today that I know I'd be good at. I don't really NEED a new job at this time, but it would be something more in line with what I plan on doing with my career in the future. I had a couple of concerns so I asked

"What would the result be if I applied for the job my friend mentioned to me?"
The answer was 8.1 > 3

The other question was "How will taking the job my friend mentioned to me affect my relationship with T?"
The answer to this one was 35.5 > 12

"T" is someone I've been very, very slowly developing a relationship with. We are co-workers at the moment so it's a sticky situation. Though we rarely see one another at work. This answer is particularly baffling to me as I cannot, for the life of me, understand how a time of progress can be associated with stagnation?!?! Line five says "Take not gain and loss to heart. Everything serves to further." But if everything serves to further, then why is stagnation the resulting hex? Is there something about hexagram 12 I'm not seeing?!?! Or is it not really answering my question and instead saying "Don't worry about it. Nothing is going to stop you from making progress in this matter. If you continue to worry about it you will end up with stagnation."

I have some time to figure this out as the position isn't going to be filled until the summer time, but I would appreciate some insight.

Hello There

I see 8.1 as its worth giving it a shot and the line suggests I think in this context your skills possibly your resume would as you say be suited to the position. So I think there is a good possiblity that you may even get it, but dont hold me to that, I just think the line is saying that you are right in realtion to how you feel so go for it and 3 maybe a new begining .

I see 35.5 >12 here as you are right you shouldnt worry that if you do get the job either way you will feel ok about everything it si an interesting line and to be honest I am not all that familiar with it as I have never cast it. I know what you mean its positive yet it turns into a standstill situation.

I would take this as 12 being maybe a background situation where things in about this blossoming friendship maybe put on hold for while but either way it will turn out for the best Whether you continue with with the friendship or you dont you will feel that you made the right choice

I hope that helps, I myself would be interested in other opinions as I said I have never the cast the line.
