Hello everyone! Today I did my first i Ching reading ever. I was interested in it after reading The Man in the High Castle. The question I asked was "Is my book going to be successful and famous?", because I'm currently writing my first book ever (in spanish, because it's my mother language). The hexagram that appear after I threw the coins was 46. I read about it, but sincerely I din't understand it very good... :S so please please please I want someone to explain the meaning of 46 and what does it means in relation to my question. Thank you very much. ;)

The meaning of hexagram 46 for artistic and literary people is that they cannot expect to jump from obscurity to fame in one large leap. You'll need to work steadily on many smaller projects or portions of a bigger project in order to get anywhere. In any field, success is never guaranteed and maybe this is even more true in the competitive creative fields.

My advice is to enjoy whatever stage you're at, and don't just look forward to fame and success in the far distant future! Writing is hard work, but be sure to find the enjoyment in it, too -- because you're in for the long haul. And that means that success is not right around the corner, winning recognition will require a whole lot of hard work.

Dear tonyfm2010,

Hexagram 46 can be represented by the image of a plant growing in centre of the earth, upwards. So, you can get the picture: it is a process that involves energy, adaptability and it does take time.
Likewise, the Yi cannot tell you at the moment whether or not you are going to make fame and fortune with your book;) but it is telling you that you can get where you want if you focus on the process rather than on immediate results. Here are just a few ideas and pieces of advice that I am able to get from your Hex 46 reading.
- Expect hard work (remember the plant:D)
- Take things gradually. That could mean working on every aspect of your literary work, to make it better and better, instead of trying to get it done.
- Work on your own strength. Like the plant that needs all the nutrients from the earth, you need to get to the source of your inspiration and improve your skills.
- Make yourself flexible and adaptable when you encounter obstacles.
- Meet like minded people and/or more experienced people. Maybe by joining a literary circle, attending lectures/talks to share ideas and knowledge? Perhaps meeting influential people that could help you in your journey to be a writer?

Hope it helps. Best of luck:bows:
