I have asked the I ching where I should look for more regular part time work this is in addition to being a full-time fire-fighter. This read is for my boyfriend who is in a muddle!

I feel he needs to slow down search within and he will find his answers as there is not an easy solution to this because of his shifts and contact with is children. He is always in a hurry and his memory is becoming poor due to stress I feel and this is topping him applying for a promotion at work also. I realise a promotion is not a quick fix solution but will benefit his future as he has been a firefighter for 10 years.

I have received 32 with moving lines 9 in third place and 6 at the top.

Thanks any help or advice appreciated

Be steady and strong, not rushing around like a crazy man

32.2.6>56 says: With regard to seeking more work, please know you must avoid all extremes. The goal is to live in the right way, a way that will keep going forever. Live in a way that is steady, strong, and balanced. The top line moving says: Constant rapid movements bring misfortune.

The way he is rushing around in great stress can not have any good result. He needs to settle down and stop rushing around.

Hello Star _ Crazy

Hexagram 32 counsels us to live in the midst of difficulties as if there were no difficulties. In other words, it is our inner composure that counts the most. Only when we are calm, relaxed, collected, do the answers come to us. It is our own nature we must deal with, not so much the outer world.

Line three and six of any hexagram tend to be excessive. In this case, there is excessive worry. One must relax. We do not create the future, although in a way we do, but uncosciously, but we help to make things go more our way by maintaining meditative brain waves, and a cool and calm interior. This actually modifies our future more than any outer work can do.

The answer doesn't have so much to do with a direct answer to the question, but a forcing of ourselves to look inward and see who we really are.

Either/or

In asking a question, Star_crazy, try to avoid asking, "Shall I do this or shall I do that?" because when the Yi answers, nobody will know which part of the question it is responding to. I realize you are a beginner.

The answer is interesting, because the Yi seems to have commented in general, since it really cannot answer an either/or question. In its answer, the Yi says, with the first line moving, that there is something meager here. The Whincup translation says, "He travels meagerly. This is what procures disaster." Something about not looking far enough or not having enough money or provisions to search well. Maybe it means that with a part-time job, the pay would not be sufficient. It's hard to say, beyond the fact that it's a weak line in a weak place.

Second line moving is interesting, because it refers to you, Star_crazy: "The traveller [job seeker] reaches an inn with his valuables still nestling safely in the bosom on his robe. He gains the loyalty of a young servant. There will be no trouble to the very end."

Maybe it is not so flattering to be referred to as "a young servant," but it just means a loyal helper, which you really seem to be. He is lucky to have you helping him, because it means he'll be okay.

Now, the second hexagram is 14, and that stands for the wealth we already have. It could be that the Yi is saying for him to stay with the position he already has. Or it could mean that with reference to money he gets from working, he would do well to work together with you in thinking about all this. It's a rather vague answer, and that is probably because the question was an either/or question.
