I asked the I ching what is happening in my relationship ? I received 37 with 9 at the top.

I asked for my partner shoule he purchase his Grandparents house (his Grandad passed recently) He received 53 with six at the beginning. (I interpret this as go ahead)

Any help appreciated please. :bows:

37 is family, and I understand it is related to "correct" relationships, cooperation and hierarchies.
37.6 speaks about examining oneself. Correcting one's own actions and attitudes is how the rest (the clan, the family, your partner) will increase their respect and appreciation. This means NOT turning to judge the other(s), but first examining your self to see what you can correct there. If you act this way, the outcome seems positive.
The relating hexagram is 63, that talks about taking care of what you have achieved.

About the other question... not sure I agree there. 53 is progress, but it is gradual. The first line talks about difficulties (without blame, though) and the need of moving forwards SLOWLY, carefully. The resulting hex is 37 again.
I don't think is a yes/no kind of answer, but it does invite you to consider it carefully.

37.6 refers to the head of the household. That could be a very impressive or even frightening person; awesome presence. Good fortune in the end if the head of the household governs with sincerity. Sincerity is, I find, a very complicated virtue and not at all easy to explain.

53.1: "younger son in trouble." Someone is in difficulties and doesn't know what to do. Troubles for which we are not to blame.

Personally I don't know if I'd interpret 53.1 as go ahead and buy a house. H53 seems to imply that there will be a gradual development towards buying a house, but line one moving indicates that that is just at the beginning. Usually when you get H53, things have to progress in an orderly fashion for you to get to your goal. Progress towards this goal must be made one step at a time.

The answer here is yes, her boyfriend should indeed buy the house.

Why? Because Hex 53 is about progress, the progress of a man setting out in life to make his mark, in this case to have a base, a springboard for further achievements and advancements.

A house is sure, it will increase in value, and it can be rented out, or used as future collateral.

Buy it.
