Hi,

There are 2 masters I'm choosing between right now- some help on interpretation MUCH appreciated.

Q) What will be the effect on my Daoist training if I learn off Xuejun Wang for martial arts?

25-->21 (moving 5)

Q)What will be the effect on my Daoist training if I learn off Dylan Kirk for martial arts?

48--> 57 (moving line 6)

-----

My interpretation intially is go for Dylan however I have to mediate on this some more, again..help on it is MUCH appreciated!

From your readings it's looks like you won't go wrong with either teacher. The only difference I see is that Xuejun Wang's style is possibly more passive resistance oriented, and is extremely efficient in movement per force measure, i.e. using the force of the attacker as your weapon. Sounds very lethal to me.

It appears that Dylan Kirk's method is based on strength, physical discipline, technique, commitment, and purity of heart. Purely my guess that Kirk is the younger of the two?

If you're so inclined, I hope you let us know your choice and reason.

Yes..you are correct Dylan Kirk is the younger one. As of Xuejun Wang- he's a purely Yang style taiji teacher- and in my mind very skilled (took a couple classes). Where as Dylan K was recommended by my old Shifu and he's a teacher @ my school for later subjects in TCM. I know thier both VERY good, its just making the choice.

Overall Xuejun is more expensive..then again he has 30 yrs of Yang style learning from the best in China etc. So with that view meng Thanks. Dylan= Baugau and Taiji with Shaolin- in that..he's not specialized as Xuejun.

Knowing that..I'm leaning toward Xuejun.

It was my impression you would. You seem to seek inner power more than a display of force. Sounds a bit confusing, though, to associate yang with inner rather than outer.

There's potential play on the words of your question, and I have to wonder to what extent Yi uses it. Namely: "What will be the effect on my Daoist training if I learn off ______?" Daoist training seems like an oxymoron, which is why 25 fit so perfectly. This is something Xuejun would bite through.

Thanks meng!

Just want to clarify..Taiji is a very passive martial art- very soft & the techniques you stated are correct. As of Yang- its not Yang perse in the energy- its Yang by the family surname. Though ironically I can see where your coming from which gave me some insight which matches the phrase "Steel pin hidden in cotton wool" which is used quite frequently to describe Taijichuan.

25.5 - 21 - Steel pin hidden in cotton wool

love it :bows: I have to laugh now from Alli's infamous "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" image.

Yang as a family name, thank you. Yet it isn't without metaphor, as the dragon sleeps, it is yet the dragon.
