Hello everyone! I would appreciate any insights about this cast I got today. I am very attracted to a friend of mine, and I feel he is too, but he has not done anything to approach me and besides I know he is not sure about his sexuality... so I asked the I Ching a straightforward question: Is there any potential for the development of a sexual relationship between us? The answer was: 32.2.3.5 turning to 45. I interpreted as a “no”, because I related 32 with enduring friendship... What do you think? Thanks!

If I received this reading, I would have doubts about the ability of the man to be faithful within the relationship, due to Line 5.

She is mature, knows who she is; it’s right for her to settle into her course. He is young, still exploring, needs to stay free and adventurous.


Even if the age difference does not apply to the two of you, men are generally more immature and less ready to settle down and nest. Add the uncertain sexual orientation you describe, and it is even less likely that trying to settle down with this person will produce a consistent relationship.

Hilary says that H32 is the hexagram associated with marriage, but perhaps, I see in your question, that you are only interested in a sexual relationship. Thanks tigerintheboat! I really appreciated your reading. You are right, I did not ask about marriage, so that's why I found hard to interpret the lines. Do you think the related hexagram has some importance in this cast? Could hex 45 imply some change in the "negative" aspects of 32?

No...the primary hexagram is the reading...H45, Gathering, is where you are approaching from. You might think of the whole thing as "Gathering Together to Create Continuity."

Whether you call it marriage, or just a sexual relationship, there is still a relationship between the two people if it persists more than a night. I would just view the moving lines as comments and the likely pitfalls of that relationship.
