Hi everyone, after much waiting and pondering about a relationship that is stuck at the moment, I wanted to ask the iching a last question before moving on.. whether or not this person is well meaning in his intentions towards me/us/our relationship, whatever it may turn out to be.

I regard this knowledge as an essential step towards moving on, as I want to know whether I should leave a door open, maybe consider a friendship, or just completely cut this person off my life.

Any insights?? and yes 30 keeps coming up about this guy...

Many thanks:))

Is this person well meaning?
10.2.3.5 > 30

Line 2

Nine in the second place means:
Treading a smooth, level course.
The perseverance of a dark man
Brings good fortune.

Hilary renders dark man as hermit. Bradford, as the secluded one. I think it may refer to one isolated in the mourning hut ritual. In any case, the person is not material for a full relationship.

Line 3 suggests that the person has limits in vision and action.

Six in the third place means:
A one-eyed man is able to see,
A lame man is able to tread.
He treads on the tail of the tiger.
The tiger bites the man.
Misfortune.
Thus does a warrior act on behalf of his great prince.

Line 5 in Legge: The fifth NINE, undivided, shows the resolute tread of its subject. Though he be firm and correct, there will be peril.

To me the lines suggest at best a Platonic friendship.

Lots o food for thought there pocossin..thank you very much.

I wonder if the secluded 'hermit' you mentioned could refer to the fact that he is the '3rd' party, as I'm in a relationship at present (though in crisis) and he has been ver hesitant to get involved because of this.

On a technical level, can i ask why if it says 'the perseverance of a dark man brings good fortune' the interpretation of the line is still a not very positive one? just curious to learn more about it.

This man has talked about being scared of the situation and a previous reading suggested he is completely divided about us. I wonder if the tiger and the peril refer to this??

thanks again for a very insightful reading.

just a stab at your question

'the perseverance of a dark man brings good fortune'

leaving him as the hermit is a good thing. Not trying to partner him or create a relationship is good.

This man has talked about being scared of the situation and a previous reading suggested he is completely divided about us. I wonder if the tiger and the peril refer to this??

well you are in a relationship so that would make sense.

maybe 30 keeps coming up because he can see the situation clearer than you can, which often is the outsiders benefit.

thanks ching ching..

still confused but i think i get the idea that at present it's best to leave him to himself?

when i asked today why is he still not being in touch I drew 5 changing to 48..waiting for.. the well???

5->48 is a good thing to wait . like the text explains "Waiting in the meadow.
It furthers one to abide in what endures."

thanks gato for your positive input. though i find hex 5 pretty straightforward to understand, 48, the well is slightly trickier..either way I'll have to wait and see!:))

stark tree,

because there is only one changing line the text from that line will probably be more important than the relating hex. The well could simply mean, he is there...he wont move... therefore waiting isnt going to result in losing him, so what gato said is IMO spot on

Ok, I thought I'd post an update of the situation with this man:

he got in touch two days ago (a day after the iching response for 'why is he not in touch yet?' was hexagram 5 changing to 48 ) with a lovely message apologizing and asking about me. I replied in a detached but friendly way and haven't heard back since (which is rather ackward since we're talking instant messaging). So i asked the iching what does he want from me and got 24 changing to 3. I take the line about 'the noblehearted apology' to be fairly explanatory about his motives.
Maybe he really did just want to apologise, but then why disappear again?

So I asked for the last time, should I get in touch and maybe just ask him? and drew 50.6 changing to 32...some forum replies seem to see this as a positive reading, but I'm now v confused..

still very confused. Not sure what I should say if I get in touch so I'm going to think carefully about it before doing anything.

My gut feeling is this guy is just really scared of his feelings and of the situation and not simply just playing around (even though he is not being 100 clear in his behaviour I believe that reflects his mind status..)
I made a leap asking the iching whether he could be falling in love and got 48.6 changing to 57, which is very interesting, particularly as the well also appeared just before hearing from him.
I then asked what is the root of his hesitation and got 31.3 changing to 45, which seeing as he talked about fearing the situation in terms of the people involved I think is also spot on. this is a man who spends a lot of time worrying what people think in general and likes very much to keep things 'under control'. there is always a possibily that the person losing control could be me, but my experience so far from previous readings on this relationship have been that each time I enquired about HIS feelings the iching has responded addressing just that (in the sense that reality has then proved it to be accurate)
anyway, so far the accuracy of most of the interpretations each time has been staggeringly spot on!:))
