Hex 11.2>36: Quitting my job, starting somewhere new.

Today I asked the Yi about the outcome of quitting my current job --where I no longer feel challenged mentally, only economically compensated for following orders in which I no longer believe-- with the purpose of dedicating my day time to teaching English and Spanish. My answer was hex 11, Harmony, with changing line 2, becoming 36, Darkening of the Light. Overall, my intuition tells me this is a positive reading, however, I am new to this, I cannot rely entirely on intuition. I would greatly appreciate experience and knowledge to aid me in interpreting this response.

It's okay to let go of the job...'Holding to a hollow gourd while making a river crossing' something like that, describes how, in making a transition it is necessary to carry no baggage or weight. This can be a scary ride.....you are alone in the water and you lose sight of familiar supports, familiar structures....but it's okay you can let the flow carry you.

I see this as yes do what is necessary to move on to the next phase of life and don't worry if at times you feel completely adrift. Hold on to that gourd...which I think can represent that buoy which keeps us afloat ....one's own inner space, life itself.

I think 36 here shows at times this will feel much like being wounded....people or supports seem to vanish, but this is so you can make the crossing unencumbered.

I had the same feeling, too, I guess I needed assurance. For Hex 36, do you think it mght also mean that I should not expose or draw to much attention upon myself? I think this is theone I am not very clear about, since 11 is obviously saying "Go for it", I feel that 36 speaks more of an attitude to take in the future.

When you have only one line moving that is the focus IMO. I don't see 36 as terribly important here...it's more of a backdrop.

The relating hexagram is not the future, it is the backdrop to the question, the place you are coming from and so on. 36 is an aspect of your answer obviously via 11.2 but it's not some future omen.

11's 36 here, that is 11's wounding, is 11.2 ....one will feel outside of the mainstream, perhaps lonely in travelling this route but that is just how it is. So 36 is already intrinisic in what you now experience .

Oh, thank you so much for this! That just illluminated me not only about this particular cast, but in general. I am very new to this and, although I find the iching fascinating, the changing lines and resulting hexagram seem tricky to me still... no wonder *remembers casts from the past*.
