The simple answer might be that, in the contest, you will be "blocked" (hex 12) from "moving forward" (hex 56). At the very least it doesn't seem to be saying that you will win.
12.3 talks about shame (a gentler word might be embarrassment) and feelings of unworthiness. It also suggests "embracing" those feelings. What could you gain by embracing a feeling of unworthiness? Maybe there's something constructive to take from the contest. Will the judges be giving you feedback on your writing?
12.5 is about tying something to the sprouts or sprigs of a mulberry tree. Is there a "sprout" within this story that you could use to write a new, better story? I think it's saying that there's still something alive and promising in this story, even if it didn't do so well as currently written.
Maybe identify what works in the story (possibly with the judges' help, if you'll be getting feedback), use those parts, "prune" the rest, and "grow" a new story. Maybe the plot idea is still good, or one or more of the characters, or the setting.

I don't think feedback is given to non-winners, but winners prize includes a chance to do a writing program where you work with experienced writer on a piece of writing so that may be spoken about in this reading based on your interpretation.... not sure! But thanks for this, makes a lot of sense!

Hmmm intriguing. I asked "How does writing for this contest affect my life?" and received 47.5 > 40.
I'm not sure if this is auspicious or if it isn't. It kind of looks a bit as though it's not so positive? I get the idea that it means something has to be let go. I suppose that could mean that it's not possible to have it all.
