Hex 14 Unchanging

Hi All

It's been a long time since I posted anything on here although I read the posts regularly. I'm finding all your comments as helpful as ever!

I am hoping you can clarify something for me. I recently asking if someone cared me about me as much as I cared about them and I got Hex 14 unchanging. It instinctively felt like a lovely answer but would appreciate your take on it.

Fellowship with others (13) may have good results as long as you do (14) not socialize in a narrow way. The images text (14) encourages you to enjoy the diversity of life; meanwhile sorting out good and bad.
To my idea you received a somewhat dull answer about what sharing in general is all about; in answer to a general question that proposes a balancing of relationship qualities. Maybe without the aspect of balancing an answer would be deeper.

When strength and clarity unite:

He is firm and strong, ordered and clear.

Claire, you know the other person for a long time. H14 refers to something or to a relationship we already possess, as opposed to a new relationship we might be thinking of. The 'wealth' referred to is not material wealth. It is heavenly (or 'higher') treasure that is being accumulated.

From the way the question is worded, it's difficult to know whether the H14 refers to you, to the other person, or is representative of the relationship itself. Any way you interpret it, however, it is good news!

Maybe you are the person possessed of great wisdom, and that is the way the other person sees you.

I read this as the I Ching saying this person puts great value on your friendship, they consider your friendship a Possession in Great Measure.

Yes Gina, I have known this person for a long time . . we were once married but I destroyed it unintentionally. Very long story . . I have recently returned to my home county where he still resides and for the first time in a very long time he actually spoke with me. We actually sat until almost 6 am talking like we used to. Neither one of us has ever moved on . . and we both admit to still having very strong feelings for one another. But unfortunately I'm not sure whether he is strong enough to ever allow me back into his life. I have presented many questions to the I Ching recently and the respnses haver very much advised me not to get ahead of myself and play things in a very low key manner.

Yes, with H14 unchanging the burden is on you. You are in the spotlight, like a Queen. One name for hexagram 14 is SOVEREIGNTY.

When you wrote that "unfortunately I'm not sure whether he is strong enough to ever allow me back into his life," it points to a need for compassion on your part, because we all have weaknesses. If you cultivate gentleness and kindness, you won't have to fear destroying the relationship again. You will need to firmly stick to your principles and the guidance of the I Ching, and never let your ego run away with you.

Thank you so much for your response Ginnie . . what you say certainly makes sense. Does that mean that hex 14 is more about my own approach to the relationship as opposed to a description of how he feels?

Many of Yi's responses can be read in various ways and on various levels. There is no one 'absolute' interpretation.

As a description of how he feels, it would say he sees you as his queen.

As a way for you to approach the relationship, it guides you to maintain your queenly correctness, to have great integrity, to stick to your higher principles and not let pride and ego bring this beautiful relationship down (again).

As a relationship, H14 is considered not to represent a relationship of great passionate attachment, but rather a relationship containing and holding great wisdom and order. It can also mean great wealth that has already been accumulated. There are various kinds of wealth, ranging from the material to the intellectual or knowledge-based, as in possessing a body of knowledge. The body of knowledge possessed could indeed be about the great worthiness of a relationship of this kind, gained through a lifetime of hard-won experience.
