hex 20 - should we meet?

okay, there's finally been some contact!

and an invitation to meet for lucnch. but i'm not certain if I should go.

i asked the yi "what will happen if I meet x this week?"

I received Hex 20 Unchanging.

Contemplation. The ablution has been made,
But not yet the offering.
Full of trust they look up to him.

From what I understand of 20 it means to watch and not do. I don't know how much more contemplation I could possibly give this relationship, I feel like action is needed, but I'm not sure if now is the time. At least on my part that is.

What do others think? Is 20 telling me to not go?
The other way I see this yi is that if I do go, then I am being contemplated by him.
In which case this could be a good thing in making some progress

This is a strange coincidence for me that you posted this question for this afternoon I was contemplating posting the very same question here re 20 unchanging. Hmm it was the same kind of thing. I had contemplated doing something for a long time and I had already given it much thought. I was wondering does this mean 'don't do it just keep thinknig about it and looking at it' ? But I decided I don't see it as a hexagram of 'not doing' or of 'stopping' its merely a pause before you carefully make your intended move. I think it shows its a decision important to you. You've made all the preparations but not yet the sacrifice thats all. So I don't see your answer as 'don't go' but just be aware that this is the moment shortly before the sacrifice you make, by 'sacrifice' here I mean the action you take. Somehow this action has become symbolically sacred to you -thats why you stand and look before you take the action - or not as the case may be.

Whether you go or not is down to you - the Yi isn't telling you what to do here . With 20 I always feel the ball is always being put back squarely in our court -its like 'you look, you decide'. Of course if it answers your question directly it may indicate as you said that meeting will give you both the chance to have a good look/view of each other...but you know that thats the point of the meeting isn't it...maybe not haven't read your other threads...

Trojan, wow, thanks so much for the insight. ! think your interpretation makes sense. I like the part about sacrifice, that is something to contemplate for sure! It's funny how a lot of times when you ask the yi a question it just tells you what is on your mind... in both our instances it was like "I'm contemplating what to do, what do you think" and the yi gives us the hex that says "you are contemplating what to do".

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to see this person in a social setting...our mutual hobby brings us together frequently. When I asked what would happen, I received hex 6 conflict so I decided against it. It's true I am conflicted.!

I just wanted to point out that it could be saying that you have been contemplating this for a while, the ablution made not the offering, meaning it is now time to make the offering, which is yourself, meaning, stop contemplating and take the risk.
