Hi Everyone, I asked Yi a question and would love your input. My question was "How far/close am I from achieving my goal"

I have already been working towards the goal for quite some time and wanted to know if I'm close to realization or is it still just the beginning of my journey.

I got Hexagram 30.1.2 changing to 50.

Thanks so much for your help.

30.1 is like when we wake up in the morning with our thoughts going in all directions. 'Gee, things can seem really confused at the beginning.'

30.2 is like the mid-day sun shining down on us -- and it is said to be supremely auspicious. It's a great line, Viola. It's meaning is that you find what is right in a very balanced and civilized way.

Thank you, Ginnie. 30.2 makes my heart sing:)

I know that the question of changing lines has been brought up numerous times but I still struggle with it. I'm wondering if in this case, the changing lines happen one after another, i.e. there is going to be a period of time described by 30.1 followed by time described by 30.2?

I read somewhere that the first line refers to the person that asks the oracle while the second is the connection with the oracle.. In this case, 30.1 would should how I view my situation, and 30.2 would be oracles response... Do I make sense?

Thanks!!:)

I guess I don't see the changing lines in the way you describe.

With multiple changing lines, I just read them all, take them in, and let time sort out what they mean, or meant, at the time.

Here is what Hilary has in the Wikiwing for lines 1 and 2 in hexagram 30:

‘Treading, hence confused.
Honour it,
Not a mistake.’

The confusion when you just wake up, and awareness comes as a sudden rush of sensory input. But also ‘the footprints run crisscross’: we go out in the morning light to see whether the ancestors have visited our offerings on the smoothed sand. They have… the messages of the criss-crossing tracks are indecipherable – but we know they came, and honour that.

Maybe this is the beginnings of capacity to find direction or meaning in the muddle.

30 zhi Hexagram 56, the Sojourner. Messages from Someone passing through. Maybe the first time the messenger – messages – awareness visit with you, or you with them.

Line 2

'Golden light.
From the source, good fortune.'

Golden light – sunlight. The Shang drew a contrast between themselves as a people of the sun and daylight and their predecessors, the Xia, as a people of darkness and water. It’s the contrast between 30 and 29 – and here we are in full sun.

30 zhi Hexagram 14, Clarity’s Great Possession: the wealth of energy at midday. Golden light can be the source, too, that everything is made of – like plants are made of sunlight.

Hi Viola,

I would like to offer my two cents. I'll warn you, it's a rather simplistic point of view, but sometimes less is more.

Question is how far/close you are from your goal.

30.1
You are still at the beginning of things. There's confusion and trying to organize, but it is full of energy. This may indicate that you still have a a way to go ahead of you, therefore, not so close to achieving your goal, BUT

30.2
You found /will find the right path to achieve it, and if you continue on it, you will succeed

50 reconfirms your achievement in the end, but also your journey or transformation.

So, in brief words, you are on your way to achieve your goal. Still lots of things to do before getting there, but with a very positive outlook. Seems you are in the right track.

Hope it helps,

Flor.

Hi Everyone, I asked Yi a question and would love your input. My question was "How far/close am I from achieving my goal"

I have already been working towards the goal for quite some time and wanted to know if I'm close to realization or is it still just the beginning of my journey.

given your question and other comments the focus appears to be related to a generic, vague, state represented by hexagrams 63/64.

The path to completion (63 - and so attaining purpose) is in establishing a solid foundation upon which to develop - this described by reference to characteristics of hexagram 48.

63 is the goal of 48 (or 'how do I 63? - 48' How do I assert begin/end (and so completions)? Through establishing a foundation upon which to build)

The implication therefore is more to review the foundations then try to see an ending in that the sight of the end is dependent upon what you are standing upon:) - if you are in a hole then completion will be in filling it in such that you don't stand in it anymore! - fill in the foundations and you can 'see' better.

You can identify the more particular completion of your particular situation by focusing on the properties of the situation - IOW it is possible to identify the precise structure of completion given a clear representation of the process under way. Use the EIC program to do that where the 63-ness of the situation is the goal and as such gives you something particular to aim for rather than the generality you have expressed.

I am not familiar with the EIC system, or how you derived references to H63 or H48, Elvis. In my experience H30.2 does indeed indicate establishing a solid foundation upon which to stand.

When we are standing on a solid foundation, we are not thrown off by any irrelevant or external circumstances. Second line moving indicated to me that this aspect has already been activated. That is, Viola is already beginning to stand on a solid foundation, or she is already aware of what that solid foundation is.

Hexagram 30 is about what we depend upon, what we cling to -- and we all must cling or adhere to something. To be dependent upon what is right is said to have the power to transform and perfect the world.

Sometimes when both line 1 and line 2 are both moving, when that is the pattern of the moving lines, that indicates the approach of something or that we are approaching our goal. Seen this way, it would seem that the attainment of the goal is really close.

I wonder sometimes if H50, the Cauldron, indicates a state not unlike preoccupation or worrying at a very deep level, an existential level.

H50 urges us to keep stirring the various elements, keep thinking in terms of how we might put our skills at the disposal of others in the most kind and generous way possible. It's a tall order! Please let us know what happens, Viola!

We can say all this without knowing anything much about the specifics of Viola's situation.

I did not have access to the internet over the weekend and I'm thrilled to find all of your insightful comments. Thank you so much!

I realized that H50 that indicates, as Ginnie put, the state of preoccupation and stirring of various elements, seems to describe my situation! I'm stirring my stew in the Cauldron :) and I keep wondering whether I added all necessary elements.. is Time the only missing ingredient? am I still missing something? or is the whole stew flawed? In either case, it seems like I have already or will in the future "find the right path to achieve it."

Soon after I did this reading, I asked Yi more specific question. Will I achieve my goal in the next 3 months and got Hexagram 30 again - pretty amazing!! This time it's 30.3.6 changing to 51. What do you think?
