Hex 31 love interpetation

Hi everyone just looking for a bit of help interpreting as I'm completely new to all this.

First off a bit of a background: I was in an on again off again relationship for about a year & a half with someone I loved deeply, still do. And for that reason I put up with alot of things that I know I shouldn't have, incl the on again off again fiasco. It's currently off, has been for 5mth. We've tried being friends in that period but he has a temper & lashes out when it flares up so we haven't had contact in 2-3mths, the last being particularly nasty, which is heartbreaking as we had planned a future together.

So a few nights ago I consulted the i Ching & asked the question "Is he still in love with me" & got back Hex 31 with a changing line in line 6.....I'm not sure if this is positive or not? It also gave me the future hex 33 "retreat".

I slept on in & the online generator prompted me to ask another question about the same situation so the following night I asked "Do I have a future with him" & I got Hex 2 also with the changing line in line 6....giving me the future Hex 23 "splitting apart"

Can someone please help me with this interpretation?

Dear newbie21,

I am sorry to say that prospects are not good. Unfortunately, Hex 31.6 is the hex/line of someone who talks the talk but does not walk the walk. With 33 as background I cannot see his feelings as being consistent and/or reliable. The real influence represented by Hex 31 is really lacking here.

As for your future together (Hex 2.6 > 23) my interpretation is that if you really try to push this relationship forwards you will both end up having arguments and get hurt.

Sorry, but your readings are far from anything that we would like for a relationship. But it is better that you know now, straight away, and move on.

I had some experience wih 31.6 too and I have to agree with Mirian. It's not that he doesn't think about you, but this line warns not to believe in his promises. It's just empty talk. All the best!

31.6 actually pretty much nailed exactly what he is like as a person, full of grand but empty promises.

I have asked again (I think I need to leave this subject alone for now!) as unfortunately I am not the only one affected by this relationship; I have a child, not his but he had made some pretty big empty promises to her too. Even through this they loved each other & were both very good for one another. So maybe I'm hoping against hope that they may salvage something from this.

So the final questions I asked:
1. Will we ever be friends again? I got 53.1.4.5 >30
2. Will he ever work through his own issues? I got 61.6 > 60

I think they are the right second hex's, correct me if I'm wrong!

Not quite sure what I get from that, particularly the first question's hex's, they seem to be both positive & negative.

1. Will we ever be friends again? I got 53.1.4.5 >30 - Yes, it is really possible. But this a gradual process that involves working on issues along the way.

2. Will he ever work through his own issues? I got 61.6 > 60 - Well, yet another Hex/line representing people whose words don't really match their actions. It is like someone who perhaps thinks that what he says makes things happen, who thinks that crying out loud can make a difference or affect the way things are. I suppose that the I Ching is saying that he has to change his attitude and really tackle his issues rather than this superficial approach.
