Howdy. I have recently asked the IC a question and found myself a bit confounded by its answer. I asked "Do I have anything fresh and new to say with my writing?" and I received Hex 37.6 changing to 63. If I am understanding line 6 of Hex 37 correctly, it's talking about setting a good example for others to follow. I'm not sure what that has to do with my question.

Line 37.6 says that your work commands respect, therefore your writing is supposedly quite impressive to those who read your thoughts.

But it doesn't indicate anything "new", just deeper insights into what you have already written.

H "Do I have anything fresh and new to say with my writing?" and I received Hex 37.6 changing to 63.

If your work commands respect i suppose you have something fresh and new. But this is a redundant question since there is always something fresh and new. It's up to you to discover it ...or let yi guide you through the process.

"Do I have anything fresh and new to say with my writing?"

37.6 > 63.

37 for me has been about order or things in a hierarchy in the right place or role. Or ordering the family so that everyone has and does their roles. But, for me the notion of "family" has been interpretable.

37.6 the sage that orders. Hatcher (37.6) says "his place is something he earns" and "superior authority works on the substance beneath it ... (and) require more courage". Also, Hatcher (37.6) says "motivation which only negates learns little about our reasons for moving". LISE (37.6) states "being true, impressing thus, and "if you live up to a good cause, spiritual ideal or perfectionism, you will never accomplish much" and "if you mix the good with down to earth common sense with you succeed".

LISE (63.6) fan yao would be "never be sure of success. If you want to keep it, then stay the way you were when you made it".

63 everything is in its correct place, and ready for the great journey. Already complete leading to chaos. Perhaps, you need the already complete (order, things in place) before the chaos (creativity)

So, I think the answer is it depends. My sense is the new and fresh is the product of a lot of background work, or engaging in the process. Being in process, THEN something occurs, or something happens. Even the ideas that pop out of nowhere, germinated somewhere. You just weren't aware of the germination process. 37.6 might be point out that in order to start the great journey of creativity/writing (63), you will need to get some aspect of the process in its place or in order, which won't be easy as it may take motivation, courage, and truth. I wonder if being in "the ordering of", "the working with", or "the learning from" the mundane or down-to-earth, will bring you to fresh and new. The fan yao may point out-- look to when you did have fresh and new ... what was its context, what was your space when the creative process emerged and produced? Striving for the fresh and new may be putting the cart before the horse.

Much luck with your writing!!

Hi, Ace. Thank you for your response. Talking about order and "the mundane and down to earth" has me thinking about something that was strongly on my mind at the time leading up to when I asked the IC my question. I had really been thinking hard about issues concerning grounding/feeling more grounded. I'm now wondering if that is what the IC is really answering to, more so than the question about the fresh and new that I consciously posed to the oracle...

I remember an astrology reading I was given a few years ago. The astrologer told me that I have a T-square consisting of Jupiter, Neptune and the Sun. He said that it correlates to big, fantastic ideas that end up going nowhere because they lack grounding in reality. So the whole issue surrounding grounding has weighed heavy on my mind for a while. I think it is said that Hex 37 is primarily about structure, so the IC is perhaps calling my attention to the benefit that rigid structure could give me, make me a bit more grounded. Without rigid structure and everything in its proper place and order (37), one will not be grounded enough to bring his/her project to a place of completion.

I think I may be understading what the IC is saying to me a bit better now. Thanks so much guys!

Awesome

For me, 37.6 says you are or will be in a high, respected position in a family, group, or organization.

Are you a member of an organization of writers?

The person in the 37.6 position is 'awesome.' Yi might be saying you or your writing is powerful. Either that, or it may be answering your other question, as you wrote in your post.

About 'fresh and new': That is a matter of inspiration or insight.
