Hi,

My question today is - how can I progress this connection Hex 46.1.3.4>54

Step by step Hex 46 - line 1 - in a good position
line 3 - no obstacles to the progress
line 4 - the connection will progress nicely
Hex 54 - finding my place within this connection - not sure if I've got this bit right - not really a fan of Hex 54

Sounds good to me. 54 if thought of as the context or background of your question, could be saying something like, this connection comes second to you, as if to say you've had your focus on something else, or the connection is not as important to you as some other thing. This could also be past tense, connections have come second to you. OR (54 you are assisting the connection), and by doing so you are pushing upward. (I like this the best but thats also because its the most positive). All of the lines seem fairly good.

Line 1-is very auspicious, continue the connection. Line 3-empty city CAN be seen as freedom of choice, how you will build is up to you, as well as what you will build. Line 4- also auspicious keep pushing upward, maintain the connection.

Really? 46 manipulation? Hmmm, that could change an interpretation completely. I haven't ever thought of it that way as I have yet to have that experience, (that I am aware of). Perhaps I need to keep an eye on those rose coloured glasses as I can't see in any way that there would be any manipulation going on although now it's been mentioned I will be more conscious of things. - Liss

When I first heard the manipulation association, my response was that it was a pretty negative way of interpreting 46; I didn't much like it. But over time I began to observe it playing out at times. It drives home the often repeated reality that no hexagram is entirely positive or negative.

Lifting me up to bring me down to earth; now there's an interesting thought. Thanks. :bows: Sometimes I could use that pair of heavy shoes to keep me from floating away.

For what it's worth, if you read about my bizarre experience of being arrested (charges were dropped but only after spending four rough days in the county slammer), I received 46.3 about 30 minutes before the intrusive arrest was made. I was completely shocked, taken by surprise through deception, entrapment, created by a mentally sick individual. But the point being, I walked right into it completely unaware.

I'm not saying this necessarily applies to Liss' reading, but online meetings, even alleged platonic ones, can be completely deceptive and manipulative, and I know of one case when this kind of deception has led to an unsuspecting woman's murder. Hence my warning of beware (being aware) of easy appearing ascensions. And again, I recommend reading Bradford's rendition of this line, as well as his other 46 change lines. I wish I had read it before walking into the trap. Talk about binging brought back down to earth the hard way! Rose is an alluring and potentially naive color.

I did ? well I can't imagine in what context. All I can think of is that 46 can literally be about getting ahead, climbing the ladder, getting better 'position', I've seen that many times, like going up in the queue for something. Getting ahead often does involve manipulation of some kind. Like to get promoted people 'play the game' right. Not always but in some situations.

Other than that I cannot imagine what I meant and don't remember saying it

Actually associating 46 with 54 I can see a struggle to get ahead that might involve manipulation. 54 feels in 2nd place and 46 wants advancement. It's not too far fetched to see how, on some occasions, a degree of manipulation would get one from the disempowered position of 54 to the advancement of 46.

Now those are some great notes I hadn't thought of about 46 and now that the two of you have explained, I think I may have some personal examples where 46 had some manipulation going on. Makes more sense in certain past situations. Hmmm.

Sooo, I might need to borrow those heavy shoes although I still like my rose colored glasses, I wonder if I wear the heavy shoes with my rose colored glasses if I will find balance. Some height, yet staying grounded.

Yup, it's deep in the archives somewhere, maybe from 4-6 years ago (dang, we're gettin' old!). It sounded pessimistic to me too at the time, until I started thinking about how a tree's roots manipulate themselves around obstructions, such as unearthed boulders, at which point I thought, yeah, it does do that.

54 I think says you are not in a position to control the situation, just be a participant, things may go sour but this experience will be good for you.
