Hex 5 Twice for Coming Solar Storm

I asked the Yi some months ago about what to expect during the 2012 solar storm NASA has announced recently and got Hex. 5 lines 5 and 6 moving to 26. Then yesterday, having forgotten I had already asked, I asked again and got hex 5 unchanging.

I suppose I'm being told to live in the moment, do my best and not worry and all will end well. And 26 speaks of improving one's character through the advice of ancient sages. I can see my spiritual path here. This is the preparation suggested in the hexagram. 5 also has to do with storing energy, virtue or material things. Any thoughts?

Wilhelm gives "Nourishment" as an alternate title for hexagram 5. The Image says

You'd feel better if you had a small amount of food and water stored up.

Pocossin: how can you say "a small amount" when hex 26 is about great storage and having to do with something very strong and big? Also, hex 25 refers to big natural calamities and disasters. And it's raining heavily in hex 5 (Marshall).

I think you've pretty much nailed it.

Chill and take what comes. No need to worry. Whether there are electrical storms, raging floods or Godzilla in underpants lands on the Oval Office lawn it doesn't really matter. As long as you continue on your path and cultivate that strong "soul-centre" in whatever situation - yes, all will be well in the end. I think that's the overall meaning with 5. Patience and purposeful inaction. No need to join the emotional chaos that is descending.

I say "a small amount" because hexagram 5 was emphasized by being cast twice. Circe is concerned about this matter, and modest preparation should be sufficient. As I understand it, the 'waiting' in hexagram 5 refers to guard duty on the border. In Circe's situation it means being on guard against the threat of a solar storm, not that a serious one will occur. The text of hexagram 26 is about the stopping of power (Gen over Qian). These storms last only a short time, and I suppose that if the effect becomes severe, electricity could be shut down as a defensive measure, but I doubt that will happen. Visually hexagram 26 is about great storage because it refers to storage of the autumn harvest. It looks like a basket (top line = handle). Such storage used to be an annual event and does not imply disaster.

"NASA has talked of the possibility of coming solar storms since 2006, and if correct, say an event like this could threaten to beat out the historic solar maximum of 1958." I was alive in 1958 and have no memory of any solar storm then, so maybe there isn't much to it. Then too, it could have been so bad that it erased my memory I do remember going out at night during a later solar storm hoping to see the aurora borealis, and I've yet to see it.

There is not a lot we can do about it, and in the meantime, you nourish yourself spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. The entire situation is based on an attempt to cleanse the earth of what might be called radical elements, and those that are ready for it will be okay.

Now, I am not saying there is or is not going to be a solar storm specifically on Dec 22, 2012, I don't know, but it does concur with the peak of a solar maximum cycle. There have been several large flairs lately, but nothing much directed right at earth. During those that have come close there have been severe weather situations, volcanoes, and other activity around the globe. Anyone looking at more than just the daily news knows something is going on. What will happen? Who knows? But NASA does know this: The earth's magnetic field is diminishing and the magnetic field is responsible for keeping strong solar flares from causing damage on the earth. It is in effect a shield. Therefore, a strong solar flare in 2012 could do much more damage than those of the past. It is likely too that satelites will fail if we get a direct hit. They also know that sunspot activity is significantly stronger than it has been in any previous cycle. If we do get hit there is nothing we can do about it. However, I for one do not believe it is the end of the world. I believe 2012 is just a starting point for changes that will happen on the earth from that point on, and there is likely much destruction going to happen over a period of time, not in one day. Those who are ready though, and I am not presently one of them, will be safe, I am pretty well convinced. That means primarily spiritually. The more one prepares spiritually, the more one will be inclined to be in the right place at the right time. In as much as I know you, I feel you are already on a spiritual path, and that is the nourishment you are told to engage in in hexagram five.

Thank you all for the help. Gene, what makes you so convinced you won't make it? Be positive. I know spiritual development can be really tough, but it always pays. I fall and get up all the time, but I won't give up. Neither should you.

Yeah, you're right, Circe. I just know I have a lot of work to do, and I live near the coast, so unless I can move, I am in danger if anything big happens, but hey, miracles happen all the time.
