I took in a female Labrador dog who could barely walk, had just delivered puppies. Wounds all over. Thin. She's much better now but I have 11 dogs at home already (and look after 5 street dogs too) and can't afford to keep her. I asked the Yi whether it would be ok to give her to a man who has shown interest and who has himself rescued a couple of dogs. I received hexagram 63 unchanging. Disorder in the end? Please help.

Just a thought here - sometimes when I have had hex 63, it refers very much to my own state - often a sense of emotional turmoil - or dilemma. In this situation, my sense here is that you have many dogs and are unable to look after any more. You should certainly use your judgement here - or perhaps take her to a rescue centre that spays female dogs....if you are concerned about him breeding from her - tell him this and see his reaction perhaps. However, you cannot continue with additional dogs to look after and this reading is saying this to you, imo.

Your question refers to the dog, so perhaps another question could be about your judgement of this person.
Well done, by the way, for helping these dogs....

You have actually already decided to give the dog to the man so it is already settled. See 63uc thread in exploring divination.

I did not see where it said that you had decided to give the dog to the man, but hope that all works out well. It will be a relief for you ...

You are right to stress Circe needs to use her judgement of course because we are talking about the life of an animal and whatever answer the I Ching gave if it were a dog I'd found and was giving to someone I'd have to be sure for myself that the man would treat it well. Circe didn't say she had already decided that was me interpreting 63uc that way, that's all.

Yes 63 is about already deciding - I see now. This is why, I think, I mentioned asking about your judgement of this man - can he be trusted, which in a way is possibly more helpful in this particular case. My friend was in a similar situation many years ago. She had rescued a pony that had been abandoned by some travellers in a field one January. It was in a really bad shape, covered in sores and starving - but my friend felt that she could help it, give it some tlc and then re-home it. The pony, which full-recovered was later wanted by an unknown lady who called at my friend's house as she had seen it in the field. My friend could not keep the pony - she had a range of animals on her small-holding. My friend was worried that the lady was a ruse sent by horse-dealers sent to get rescue animals to sell to horse market/slaughterhouses. My friend contacted a local animal rescue centre who advised her to pass on details of the pony to them and give the lady their number. They would deal with the re-homing (including visiting homes etc). If it was a ruse to get a free horse, the lady would disappear. My friend did indeed do this - and the lady was totally genuine.

I think that the similarity is because of the time and love put into the horse/dog - making it important to ensure that the final home was a good one. I think as well that with 63, deciding to take the dog in, looking after it and then finding a good home - is the entire journey on this one.

Thank you Trojina and Butterfly Spider. Well, new developments. The puppy I had also taken in has become attached to the dog and vice versa. I don't have the heart to separate them. And I suspect the guy in question may want to get puppies out of her. I want her sterilized before she goes anywhere because people may exploit her again. She is so much stronger. Even plays with me. There are people on a coffee plantation who would like to adopt them both. Looks good to me. So I will get her neutered next month and then she can go. I will miss them both. Butterfly Spider, I can't help taking in more dogs if I come across needy ones. It's a joy. Just something I am drawn to do.

Glad things are sorted - and I did get a feeling that breeding might have been an ulterior motive - so hopefully things will work out.
