I changed jobs recently thinking that this position was what I truly wanted to do... I was wrong. After only 4 months here, I feel oppressed, caged, trapped. It is definitely, without any doubt, "NOT" my thing. Trying to think of any jobs that would be fulfilling has been unfruitful so far and since I already made a mistake once -being so sure and ending up being so wrong- I wanted to ask some guidance from the Yi.

My question was "What do I need to do in order for me to find the job I would truly enjoy doing?"

The overall view of the response seems to be positive but I am still trying to determine what is it that I need to do to find what I want to work on, as some of the lines seem contradictory.

-You need to have an idea of what you are trying to create, like a role model or mentor - someone you know personally or at least a photo on your mirror of someone you admire and aspire to emulate.

-Learn all you can about the position you want to be in. Study night and day.

Wavering flight over the depths. No blame.
You can decide for yourself on what level you want to manifest your dream. For example if you have a feeling to be a teacher you can set your sights on being a college professor, take classes, get a degree and a credential and dedicate your life to bringing enlightenment to the masses. But if that's more than you had in mind you could also fulfill your wish by teaching Sunday school or just by giving clear directions to some lost soul on the street. It's up to you.

1.6 Arrogant dragon will have cause for remorse.
-Don't expect to know what you want to do right from the start. I think you already experienced this when you thought your current job was going to be so right for you.

Hex 3. Difficulty at the beginning. Furthering through perseverance. Nothing should be undertaken. It furthers one to appoint helpers. The superior man brings order out of confusion.

Perhaps you should expect to try a variety of jobs before you find the perfect fit. And maybe you'd do well to appoint a helper to help you find a job or even to help you evaluate your skills and interests to know what sort of job would suit you.

I had another thought about the meaning of 1.2 I've always felt confused about that line - are we supposed to MEET the great man or BE the great man? Today it occurred to me that this line could be about creating our public persona, especially in the work world. Like when you want to create a career you give yourself a name. "I am a Painter" or "I am teacher" or you name your company "Best Store!"Then the rest of the lines are about how you live up to your name. Like 1.3 could mean you study your subject day and night. 1.4 You choose how high you want to aim for before you feel you have arrived or can start living maybe? Like to be able to put your true self out in the world at the level of work where you belong, do you need a high school diploma? College degree?. 1.5 Finally you and who you say you are become one - you live up to your name, or your childhood vision. 1.6 I think this line says the person has gone beyond their understanding or their comfort zone or something and it can't last.
