Hexagram 11.4.5 and our wishes ...

Dear all,

Is there a way to connect HEX 11.4.5 with how to handle what you wish for?
This combination has appeared several times once thinking about my strongest wishes: some of them fulfilled and some not yet.

By far all the dear friends which respond to me know I am not a clear Iching interpreter really.
First I had some takes which after looking to others interpretations I preferred to forget about them :D

But in a general sense, I had the intuition that this talks about how these wishes are granted to one from the heavens (please fill this part with your own belief system), and how to receive them.
Any thoughts?

:hugs:

Yes. 11.4.5 > 43 could be saying that the way to manifest your wishes is resolving to align yourself with a connection to "King Yi" (line 5) rather then depending on external reality/"the world"/"the neighbors" in whom you are "not rich" (line 4). Be resolved to shift focus from the material world to the spiritual world. Co-create with a connection to the "source", i.e., a marriage brought by "King Yi". Without connecting our efforts to "the source" we cannot be "on guard against truth and confidence." It is a choice between being OF the world OR being IN the world but not "of" it.

How beautiful! :)
You know? I am also hoping to see the indication of how to proceed with a granted wish in these lines.
For some reason I try to get it from line 4, for example from Wilhelm/Baynes: He flutters down, not boasting of his wealth, together with his neighbor, guileless and sincere. I have this vague feeling that it points to how to weave what one has already received from above into the worldly life.
Is that it ;)?

Pyramid, when you use the Wilhelm/Baynes translation line 4 does give a beautiful description of how to "weave what on has already received from above into the wordly life". And here is one of those places where different translations give quite different senses of the lines. Hilary Barret's translation of line 4 of hexagram is the one to which I was referring with my comments and in the future I will include the translation of the lines I employ for clarity.

Hilary translates line 4 as "Fluttering, fluttering. not rich in your neighbours - not on guard against truth and confidence."
"not boasting of his wealth, together with his neighbor" has a different meaning for me.

Also, I checked the "Memorizing Threads" hexagram 11 thread in Exploring Divination. Rosada in post #64 of that thread uses the Wilhelm/Baynes translation and states her sense of it as "Higher Consciousness -- Beings who live in Heaven walk beside us. They will not tell us of their powers because they see us being Gods too."

Another interesting comment is made by Bradford regarding line 4 of hex 11. He says of the line, "it suggests that it is heartfelt interaction with neighbors that meets real needs and leads to enrichment, not twittering about" advising, "if you plan to be candid and authentic ... plan carefully so that your approach is refreshing instead of threatening." (That was on a thread in which someone had received Hex 11.4 when asking about how to approach getting a job which is interestingly like the sense that 11.4 is connected to "how to handle what you wish for."

(I apologize for not posting a link to the threads I mention. I haven't figured out how to do this on this particular laptop.)

mhmm, you gave me more food for thought :)
Rosada's statement is really moving. It gives a noble sense of being in power (rare! right?).

Jumpingmouse, I have to say for this one, I still feel it is "before" getting the wish unless you explain it to me otherwise :D

11.4 before getting wish
11.5 getting wish

Is that what you mean?

Maybe you are right. I thought the other way around. But I also took a look here. (More and more different interpretations...)
This goes well with
"11.4 before getting wish
11.5 getting wish"

Thank you :)

P.S: not boasting about my laptop and being able to insert hyperlinks! Not at all!!

Thank you for the link to LiSe's webpage, www.yijing.nl. At www.yijing.nl/hex-stories/11.html LiSe says, "Tai is about imploring for favors and blessings and receiving abundance and prosperity." And so it gives instructions in how to make a wish.

11.4 "...do not admonish but use the truth" (LiSe) which I can see meaning don't complain about not yet having the wish realized, but rather live in the truth of the possibility or the reality

11.5 "he gives everything its right place and if necessary takes action to accomplish this" (Lise's commentary) I imagine this as finding a place of balance in relation to things and where imbalances in ourselves are noted taking measures to correct the imbalance.

And then when I consider 11.4 > 34 and 11.5 > 5 I can see 11.5 as being the place of waiting (H 5) to have the wish granted.
With 11.4.5 changing to Hexagram 43 I can see LiSe's name for hexagram 43 "the speaking staff", i.e., "Proclaiming truth" as realizing the wish.

11.4.5 -- "how to handle what you wish for"
> 43 -- wish fulfilled

I suppose it is best for me not to blame my laptop for my inability to insert hyperlinks. How is it done?
