Hexagram 19?

I understand that Hexagram 19 means a better or different approach brings success (I hope I have it right). Can someone explain the misfortune in the 8th month. Strangely enough it's come true for me on many occasions things would be great and then bang September hits and things just decline or go all wrong like sudden misfortune. I can see the bad signs starting up from August. So is this what it means a withdrawal or reversal in reference to the question asked?

I have also experienced reversal with hexagram 19, and it can be entirely devastating. I think this is because hexagram 19 is about Taking Charge, and usually it's about something important. The situation demands a lot from us.

Sometimes the reversal in the ninth month comes about because we just were not up to the demands of the time or we can have been disappointed in that others let us down. So the element of that which cannot be controlled can enter, like the falling away of others we were depending upon. Or people changing their mind about our capability to handle the situation in the time of Taking Charge.

Hilary in her translation and commentary says the reversal has to do with trying to bring about the harvest too quickly.

To that it must be added that sometimes it is someone else who is trying to bring about the harvest too quickly, and you might get entangled in their downfall.

How to handle oneself so that the situation does not collapse remains a question I also currently have on my mind ... Maybe there is no way, and we need to be aware of that. It may be in the nature of the situation itself that it is highly unstable.

Yes this is very true..I discovered how to not let it happen by keeping a low key once I notice the signs of decline but usually it happens when something just starts off all wrong. I also connect it to energy cycles. Up and down cycles just things happening out of our control.

I have been getting H19 a lot; perhaps 5x in one week. Here is an interesting take on the 8th month:

19. Approach
Approach.
A foundation for progress.
It is beneficial to persist.
Arriving in the eighth month will bring misfortune.

Approaching someone. This will help progress, it is a good idea to persevere. It's not so beneficial if it happens prematurely, though.
(The eighth month refers to premature birth of a baby.)
