In the last four or five months I have been consistently been receiving Hexagram 2 with all 6 lines changing. This has happened probably about six or seven times. My husband and I separated approx six months ago and all questions relate to this, from "is this now the end?" to "can we ever rebuild our relationship?"

Stephen Karcher suggestes that all six lines changing can be interpreted as being 'a long term effort which is perpetually advantageous'. Does anybody else have any views on this? I don't really understand what it is trying to tell me!

I seem to get all lines changing on several hexagrams although not as frequently as Hexagram 2. Most questions I present to the I Ching are connected to the same topic and I have had all lines changing for Hexagram 1 several times, Hexagram 23 and Hexagram 44.

I would be grateful to hear any helpful advice!

Hex 2's about being receptive, which can mean both picking up on stuff and accepting it - you register what's happening, and you go with the flow.

Hex 1's about flowing, about the force and energy that makes things happen, simultaneously creating something new and destroying something old.

When you get 2.1.2.3.4.5.6>1, it's talking about the importance of balancing both of the receptive and the force in your life. The message is something like: "Open your eyes and let it be; now change it."

I take this to mean that there is going to be a great deal of drama in your life before you achieve eventual success.

I don't care for this interpretation of Li Yong Zhen. It's more like the situation merits enduring persistence, or warrants long term commitment, etc. That is, the rewards are way down the road here, after a lot of effort, and it's time to study whether or not it's worth this much effort and patience. The Xiao Xiang says Yi Da Zhong, a means to a great, full or mature conclusion. Rewards are at the end, not perpetually ongoing.
The Yi does not say that these seventh lines, found only in the 1st two hexagrams, refer to all lines changing, but bunches of people read it this way. The actual words are Yong Liu or "Using Sixes."

Thank you all for your very helpful comments - it's great to have different perspectives! I have Karcher's works and also Legge's - can anyone recommend any other reference material?

Thanks!

For hexagram 2....

"If all lines are sixes (stressed)it means that you have a serious problem staying in the background and in utilizing the powers of your subconscious. In government it indicates unrest in masses, labor, etc."

Does this sound like anything that might be happening with you?

As far as reference books... you might want to check out Everyday I Ching by Sarah Denning.

The Hexagram Name for 02 in the Mawangdui is Chuan, Stream or Flow.

Which just goes to show how wrong the Mawandui Yi can be, yes? lol

If it's flow, it's the receptive mode of flow.

Thanks for the info on new reading material Cassius Clay - I will certainly look out for it!

I had - again - all the sixes of Hexagram 2 last night - 3 times! There were other Hexagrams in between but still . . . . I think the this reinforces my belief in the power of the I Ching as surely the odds would be stacked against this happening 3 times in under one hour! I use coins.

Yes - I do have trouble staying in the background. My husband and I parted a year ago - reconciled in January of this only to find that it collapsed again in March. I want to exercise complete control over the situation but have been completely obstructed - which is why Hex 12 comes up for me consistently also.

The questions relating to Hex 2 are all to do with the possibility of us eventually sorting out our problems and reconciling. Judging from everyone's interpretation I should translate this as being that it is possible but after a long wait! I have now filed for divorce to initiate change!

Thank you so much for all the input!
