Hello,

In late November I worked on a collaborative film project which involved a particular model who had some strange energy about her. I participated in the project so that I could use the resulting footage for my own portfolio. The producer tried to get me the footage a number of times but each attempt failed: the package initially got lost, then the media failed on the disc that I did receive, and then I received a disc which contained the wrong content. I started to get the feeling that maybe I should refrain from trying to get this content at all so I asked the I Ching how I should address the situation. In response I received Hexagram 24 changing to 22. Initially (December 29, 2014) I thought the I Ching was perhaps telling me to stop focusing on such a trivial matter and return my attention to the larger issues of my existence. Tonight I am wondering if I interpreted the hexagrams correctly. I welcome any insight that anyone here can give me. Thanks for reading this:)

Hi galatea11, Good idea to put the lines in for other to see in this case it is 24.3.6>22.

Sounds to me like the readings a reflection of what happened - a mistake to participate from the start.
You already picked the strangeness from the model. - Liss

Yes - I think so. The fact that you had a bad gut feeling - paired with a lot of difficulties in getting these images is a sign from the universe. I work in the same industry - and it's taken me a while to really accept the signs.

24.3.6 - is basically telling you leave this matter alone.
22 is about grace / simplicity. - In your case I think it means to deal with situation with grace - i.e. let it go.

Thank you, GoddessLiss and MoonCatcher, for your insightful answers. I have been pondering them for several days now. For years fear has been driving me. I came close to losing my home and had to pay some surgery expenses which my insurance would not fully cover. After all that it scared me to turn down jobs even if the situations did not "feel right".

Another question, if I may. I think I have finally obtained the photos which were so problematic. A disc arrived in the mail but I haven't even looked at it. Should I avoid using the photos?

Thanks again for your replies. In future posts I will include line numbers as Liss suggested.

You have to ask yourself how much you will benefit from using this material.

There are two types of obstacles in life. Those that lead you on an unexpected path which result in something positive. The second is life guiding you away from something potentially negative / bad. The ability to recognise between the two is important.

Then comes another important thing - the ability to recognise when too many things seem be going pear shaped.

I’m under the impression that you were going through a run of bad luck during the time this project commenced - so the whole footage saga wasn’t an isolated incident. It was a single seam in a string of unfortunate events that were manifesting in your life at that time. It's impossible to know exactly why this things happened at this stage, but either way; when I want to get rid of bad luck - I prefer to cut off things that are associated with strongly negative periods in my life. Especially projects that don't serve any long term purpose.

Better to pull the string out and spin a new sweater, in my opinion.

Don’t be negative but trust your gut instinct. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't call them obstacles myself I'd just say it's using your intuition to recognise which is which. It's something I've just learnt.

I used to get upset when things didn't work out how I wanted and now I think oh thank goddess the universe is directing me to something better!

Thank you so much for your insights, Liss and MoonCatcher. I have not used any of the aforementioned content but did receive some totally unexpected, unsettling news last week. Glad I hadn't used that content because I would have felt like I hexed myself ;) I'd like to ask another question, if I may. A lot of very challenging events have occurred in my life in the past few years. I have successfully navigated through them but, much as I try not to, I cry a lot and feel extremely beleaguered and alone at times. Although many good things have also happened the recent circumstances taxed me to the point where I feared that I might have a nervous breakdown. On Sunday, shortly after learning more distressing news, I consulted the I Ching for general guidance. I received 20.1.5.6 changing into 24. My copy of the I Ching refers to Hexagram 24 as Fu/Return - A time of darkness comes to a close. In its unchanging form does this hexagram generally come to indicate that a challenging period really might be ending?

Thanks in advance for reading this and for any commentary.

I usually find Hex 24 means returning to self, ones own way, a sense of stability within.

Thank you so much for your replies, Liss and MoonCatcher. I hope that I am not belaboring this thread too much but it appears that I have reached some type of crossroads in my life and your advice is really helping me. Someone just offered me a job which will yield both pay and photo/video content that I can use for my own purposes. On the surface it looks like a win-win situation. It is also exactly the same situation as the one I mentioned when I started this thread. I asked the I Ching how I should handle this current job offer and received Hexagram 43 Unchanging in response. It seems momentous, seems like it is telling me not to take the job and just move on with my life. Problem is that I don't really understand why I am receiving this advice. Overall my career is going well although I have been plagued with a lot of unexpected financial problems in recent years (medical issues, housing issues, etc.)

Does the I Ching sometimes guide you to do things (like turn down work opportunities) even when you don't understand why? Does it mean another door will open if I close the current one? Honestly, I'm nervous to turn down work when I don't really see why I am doing so. Thanks in advance for any insight and advice.

I don't really see it as not taking the job, I see it as saying it's a breakthrough but not to fall into bad habits - keep following the plan you had in the first place using self-improvement and self-correction at all times. - Liss

Whenever I have had hex 24 I have always had to re think what I am doing. Not necessarily a question of direction more of how I look at a problem. I have always re thought through what it is I actually want - not what the current situation has to offer. Hex 24 has always made me feel positive. Rather akin to canoeing down a river with 2 choices. My own inner strength and expertise (or inner knowledge) are more important than the path I take
Hope this helps. I like hex 24 it is like a friendly uncle patting me on the shoulder ...

Hi there - sorry didn't realise there was more on this thread...

To be honest - these readings are pretty positive. Firstly 20.1.5.6 > 24 I think is talking about the stages you're going through emotionally - and 24 is about you returning to a state of emotional peace.

43 unchanging I instinctively feel is saying that your financial problems are coming to an end. I agree with goddessliss, that I don't see this as advice to turn down the job - but it may be a breakthrough of some kind. :

The negative forces that 43 is talking about - I feel is your own energy and state of mind that you need fight in order to stay determined and focussed.

So don't worry - it's all going to be fine.
