Good afternoon everybody,

The chaos in my personal life continues.
I am still single no ready for a new relationship yet.
After a long time I asked: will I ever have a relationship?
Hexagram 25. No entanglement.
Do you think that the answer is a NO?

You asked a yes/no question, which may be the source of confusion in the answer.

Perhaps No Entanglement reflects more of an inferred When or How in your question? The answer is likely deeper than yes or no.

Other translations of 25 include natural, innocent, without pretense.

A lack of entanglement is freedom to be yourself, without pressure and heavy expectations from others.

Are you comfortable enough in your own skin yet to let someone else wear it?

Thank you signal7 for your answer. I really appreciate your interpretation.
Perhaps no entanglement refers to me, I should stop asking and let everything manifests when the appropriate time comes.

I agree with Signal7's caution about asking yes/no questions to the Yi. If nothing else, it limits the much more complex range of possibilities that you are getting with Yi's response.

Consider a make-believe trial, where the prosecutor asks the defendant, 'yes or no, did you steal a cookie from the little girl?' What the defendant wants to says is, 'I did take the peanut butter cookie from her hand, but only because I knew she was allergic to peanuts.' But simplifying this to a yes or no answer misses the point (and negates the defendant's positive response).

I'd suggest too, that you may want to look at Bradford Hatcher's post about 'positive and negative' hexagrams.

I mention it because I get the impression that you immediately jumped to the conclusion that you were getting a 'no' (negative) answer - 'I will never, ever, ever have a relationship!'

I think that hexagram 25 is not equating 'Without Entanglement (or without pretense) with No Relationship (ever, ever, ever). Could it instead be that you might want to look to your 'never, ever, ever,' stance as the entanglement you need to free yourself from?

I certainly dont know the particulars of your life situation. I do believe that there are difficult circumstances we can find ourselves in, and they are not always of our making (extreme, but real examples - a child never 'asked' to be abused; a cancer patient didn't necessarily create their illness).

But in this instance hexagram 25 implies not only entanglement, but active disentanglement: perhaps there is disorder in your life -- either inwardly, spiritually, or having to do with your outer world (or both) -- that you need to address so you can move forward.

Also, No Entanglement doesn't necessarily mean No Action (just as it doesn't mean No Relationship) - the knot doesn't usually untie itself by us sitting back and willing it so. On the other hand, disentanglement could mean retreating from the world in some way -- for a time -- but as a way to address our predicaments, not to hide from them.

Kindly, David
