I've been reading and reading different interpretations of hexagram 25.

The gist I am getting is that this hexagram is about being present in your day to day, enjoying life as it comes to you, being sincere in the things that you do, that everything happens for a reason, to follow your heart and spirit, to always be righteous, to accept what comes to us and make the best of it.

Am I correct in understanding what I have read or am I way off?

I agree with most of what you wrote about 25 unchanging. It's about not pretending to be something you're not, being sincere and real, being natural, doing what's right.

The only point I disagree with is that it's about "everything happens for a reason" - rather, 25 is about everything has consequences. In the Judgement it's mentioned that the hexagram shows prime good fortune and profit - but if someone is a bandit then they'll commit crimes and errors. So yes, following our nature, as long as our nature is benevolent, otherwise things will go badly.
