Moi

i suppose someone could ask a question like this, but I think usually it is best to avoid questions that could easily be answered yes or no. I think a better question would be, "Should I pursue this relationship?" Or, "How does he feel about me? Or even better yet, if you ask a question like, How can I best interact? Or What is the best possible outcome of this relationship? Then you are not intruding so much on his feelings, and it is not a simple yes or no question, which the I Ching seems to avoid to a certain extent.

I can't answer your question without more info about the relationship, but I think there is one key line here. If someone is not as he should be...This throws the question back on you. What are the motives involved here? Yours and/or his? If both of you are pure and unattached to anyone else, etc. etc. etc. Things for you to think about, since you know all the circumstances.

Moi,

Add this to Gene's. The person indicated is sincere and without guile. I think this may speak about him. Then again, as Gene says, it's a good idea to rephrase your question. And with 53 being the nuclear hex, I think it's good - gradual progress leading to marriage is the potential within.

Best for your Quest

It might be possible that the I Ching is addressing you, rather than answering your question directly - telling you which way to be in yourself ie. innocent, free from guile and accepting of what the situation has to offer you. Going into the situation but not concerning yourself with too much with the eventual outcome. This might be a more challenging answer than the one your looking for but that?s what you?ll learn most from. Put it this way, if the I Ching gave you a simple ?yes? would you believe it? If it didn't challenge our behaviour, attachememts or whatever, it'd be pretty worthless as an oracle.

Apologies if any of this comes over as patronising but it's hard to get a grasp on the subtlties of the situation on the net.

Moi, I've been doing a great amount of thinking about this hex myself recently, although admittedly I am still just learning.

I'm reading 25 as a clear suggestion to simply stay in the moment as it is, and to respond naturally and innocently with whatever arises. To be without entanglement is to let go of emotional demands or desires, and to just be. My hunch is that the Yi isn't answering your question directly, but is giving you advise to let go of the question, to be free from motives of the ego (such as - "I" want to know how he feels) and that it is through this innocent place of no-ego that we become successful.

I think sometimes where we get ideas stuck in our brains, we get stuck literally. This hexagram to me is advising us to remain fluid and present. Let go, and know that a potential within involves GRADUAL progress. Allow this to be just as it is.

All the best to you,
Malka

Usually, when I receive hexagram 25 something relating to my question pops into my life out of nowhere. I think the I Ching is telling us to maintain a state of mind of "I don't know, let's wait and see" What's amazing is that when you keep this sort of mind state, the I Ching will bounce an answer off of you that you can actually experience, as if it came out of nowhere. Hexagram 25 is the I chings way of having fun answering your questions. The problem with hexagram 25 is, if you are too obsessed over an outcome, constantly thinking about it, the I Ching will in most instances let you have whatever your mind is stuck on. It won't interfere. By not having a " I don't know, let's wait and see attitude" you create a shield around you, the I Ching can't penetrate. That's probably why hexagram 25 likes innocence. Innocence is like an empty cave where the I Ching can talk into and an echo can come out. Fill up the empty cave with furniture, carpet, etc... and most likely no echo will be heard.
