Hexagram 26.1.5.6 changing to 48

Hi,

I'm always confused with Hexagram 48 . I do not know how to translate it. I did a reading for my friend and her boyfriend on what to expect and I got that. They are in love and so close at the moment.

I got the impression that 26 is a good one which mean that their affaire has potential but does 48 means that it is much in the presence with no future ?

Hi Jasmine, Happy New Years to you.
Its very kind of you to do a reading for your friend. I personally wouldn't do a reading for someone else as I feel the iching speaks to the person casting. But I could be wrong and I am open the that.
your question "what can they expect?" Situation is two people inlove.
26 is great taming, what I seen here from first look
line 1 changing, there is a snake they need to be aware of outside influences.
Line 5 changing they need to sharpen their weapons, be prepared.
Line 6 changing they are gifted, on heavens highway, as long as they are aware, and prepared for ups and downs they will have success.
48 the well
they are inlove so I say they nourish each other, like the well nourishes.
But the well can break or the rope may be too short so they will have to continue to work on the well so it will continue to nourish them.
I am still learning myself and different readings can mean different things for different people. Also everyone has their own perspective and knowledge, so I feel the advice given speaks to the person casting. Their inner truth. Line one moving in hex 26 means that trouble threatens and nothing should be done to avert it. So, something's brewing. But the remedy is found in line 26.5. Then the couple are released from the great taming and are walking on heaven's highway, which is one of the most delightfully free lines in the whole I Ching. That does not imply a permanent state of being but does imply a release from previous constraints and troubles.

Getting hex 48 in the context of a relationship is natural, because hex 48 signifies the satisfaction of our social and biological needs.

Hi Happy New Year to you Blue-Angel, Thank you so much for your help. I agree that it IC mostly speak to the person but I'm at my learning curve so I practice as much as possible.

Hi Ginnie, Thanks it does make sense. I agree although the well itself is permenant the water inside it may disappear or become hard to get so it requires us to work on it all the time and so human relationships.

I thought I'd say something about casting for others. I have read that when we cast for others that we involve ourselves in their situation on the karmic level. To avoid this, usually we only cast for children or others not capable of throwing the coins for themselves ... That is what I believe, anyway.
