I am having a little bit of a relationship problem. We spent a weekend together recently and the old ways of acting towards eachother became apparent again, a week or so after returning home, i wrote a letter, finally succintly putting into words all the problems i think we have together. and I asked the yi 'how does x view me now?'

I know this question often gets a bad wrap, but In my experience Yi can really give accurate answers to this one..

I'm interested in the five changing lines, I got 1,2,3,4,5 changing, from what i have learned, i understand in this case to read the one non changing line, line 6.

I'm wondering if, when you receive 5 changing lines and you read the non changing one, do you read the next hexagram as regards to the non changing line or to the changing ones? For instance, 26.6 > 11? or, 26 1.2.3.4.5 > 12 ?

Thank You!

I would read as 26 1.2.3.4.5 > 12

Even though most here dont agree with this, in my experience asking this question has given me accurate answers too. My POV is that when looking at things from the perspective of 'as above so below' this is also relevant and evident in looking at eachother as ' as in me so in you'.

You can ask anything you want... what you'll get is a reflection of yourself. Insofar as the response pulls you out of your ego-driven world and into a more objective view, there is some value. I've asked variation on the "what does x think of me" occasionally - while the responses have not been earth-shattering insights, they have served to break me out of habitual patterns of thought.

Nevertheless, I discourage going too far down that road. There are also moral issues involved in peeking into someone else's head, as Hilary notes, and it becomes easier to construct an imaginary relationship than to engage in a real one.

Of your second question -- I'd say look at the resultant of your initial reading, as that's what IC is pointing to. 26>11 is quite a long way from 26>12. "Stagnation" sounds like a pretty accurate description of your circumstance at present and, with five changing lines, you're probably already there. You might ask the best course to move you out of the swamp.

i read today on something called the i ching love oracle that 26
means be very quiet in romance - so if 12 is stasis
quietly sit the stasis out

plus tonight when i saw the second hexagram 1 - i felt go out
but as trojan says you can always make an appearance check things
out and move along

Yes i agree, I'm very aware of the boundaries encompassed in such a question, however it may be worded insofar as peeking into another persons dao is concerned, it certainly does correlate with the reality of the question involved.

One thing I've learned never to do is to say what Yi will never do, nor what it will always do. Yi is a free agent, acting on behalf of the king, as in 20.4. It doesn't even have to give any answer to the young fool (changing to 12).

Anyway, Yxeli, I weigh every line received.
