Hexagram 31 Unchanging

Hi!

I am new here so not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, advance apologies is it is not.

I asked "Is X my future partner".

I got back Hexagram 31 with no changing lines- my understanding is from this is that answer appears to be "Yes, if I am 'firm and correct'" Not sure if I am reading this right though, or if the Hexagram has any warnings that I am missing

* In the traditional sequence hexagram 31 pairs with hexagram 32.

In this pairing both hexagrams focus on issues of commitment, be it the intensity in the wooing of 31 (and so an overall differentiating focus) or the general sense of commitment reflected in 32 (and so an overall integrating focus).

COMMIT:

31 : commit (gradual) - through to someone; 31 wooing comes from a context described by hexagram 13 - loose associations [like mindedness]

32 : commit (sudden) - through to something; 32 committing comes from a context described by hexagram 14 - centred associations, directing

Thanks Elvis. It is true that in my situation I do feel a strong bond with X, but there is a lot of ground to cover before we go anywhere. So following up on your suggestion, I asked the Yi:

What work do I need to do to woo X

and got Hex 47 unchanging. Now I am completely foxed. The image of a tree in an enclosure, but development is secured by the "great man". Not clear to me what the great man does in this situation. Any hints for what this might mean in daily action?

Hex 47 covers two perspectives - the NEGATIVE of containment and the POSITIVE of such. The negative covers the encapsulation/imprisonment of something to be protected from such. The positive is the encapsulation of something to get it to willingly fit-in to the current context. In the traditional material the focus is on fencing in a tree where such forces its roots to go deep into the context.

From a relationships perspective the positive side covers encouragement of this person to share your context. The trigrams read "with containment comes intensity in expression".

As 31 covers a sense of enticement so too does 47 when seen from a positive perspective but more formal (restricting) - (the negative covers that which is encapsulated trying to get out!)

Hex 47 shares space with hex 06 and the 06 focus on conditional compromise (47 with its enclosure focus is more unconditional in such)

From the traditional POV:

* In the traditional sequence hexagram 47 pairs with hexagram 48.

This pairing reflects an overall focus on setting down roots, be they through forced enclosure (47) or willingly (48).

ENCLOSURE:

47 : enclosure - through force attachment, foundations; 47 forced enclosure comes from a context described by hexagram 10 - treading, follow a path

48 : enclosure - through well, nourishment, foundations setting; 48 a well, founding comes from a context described by hexagram 09 - small gaining
