Hexagram 37 and exclusivity

Hi, I asked yi if the person I am currently sort of involved with will want to be in an exclusive relationship with me in the near future (I am moving to the same city he currently lives in in a few months) and got hex 37 unchanging as the response.

We are good friends and have talked about dating and such after I moved, but with hexagram 37 it is difficult to tell if the connections are platonic or romantic.

My take is that we will be very close, which is nice because I care for him a great deal....but I still feel a bit confuse by the overall feel of the response.
It does cover organizing roles so perhaps things will become clearer as time goes by.

It is a silly question but curiosity still gets the better of me from time to time.

It is so strange because I have cast hexagram 37 three times near consecutively when asking about this relationship today.

37.1 when I asked about seeing him again

and 37.4 when asking what kind of relationship he wants to have with me.

Guess I should read up on 37 since apparently there is a message in that hexagram I need to understand.

I think you can look at this way: If you are looking to expand into a family, this gua is very good for you. As this gua is also about the family's mother keeping things together, if you have a mother, perhaps you ought to ask her advice. If you intentions are not in keeping with the family or expanding or maintaining family this, then this gua won't do much for you.

Yes, to the underlined...I'd say it was near impossible to tell with any answer if a connection is platonic or romantic. 31, 53, 37 all can be applied as much to close friendship as to a romantic relationship


I reckon 37 can show people who may share a base, feel a kinship, feel comfortable with each other....but that doesn't necessarily add up to romance..or indeed not add up to romance. In 37 things are pretty ordered with everyone keeping their place in some way...which doesn't sound that romantic .

I'm not saying it won't be romantic I'm just saying I really don't feel its possible to tell if this answer says romance or platonic...despite it being close.


However 37.4 shows someone being valued so he certainly seems to appreciate you which looks promising .

Definitely, Trojan. We are in a funky gray area due to the distance. It complicates everything. To make things even stranger, this ambiguous relationship situation is difficult to explain to family and friends. Think that's what lead me to ask these questions.

He is also not very forthcoming when it comes to the topic of how he feels about me and the relationship so I ask the i ching.

Even if things do not work out, we will be very close. Just one of those rare connections that happens instantly and is not easy to break. Fear is keeping him from being more decisive right now and it makes sense to me. To other people who view this from the outside, it does not look like promising. Trying to not let their opinions sway my feelings.
