Dear everybody!

I rarely use the I Ching. The other day I felt like I need some advice regarding which path should I continue on. A week ago, my friends suggested I should go to a university and learn psychology because it would fit me. Indeed I like to reflect on people and myself. However I feel like the methods of psychology alone are far from ideal to really understand someone as a whole entity. And I have bad memories about being a pupil. But it made me think. Right now im stuck a bit and like to make a step but I dont know which direction to. So I took out the I Ching and asked the following: "Is learning psychology a good path for me?"
And the answer was hexagram 4 with line 4 changing to hexagram 64. First I thought this direction is clearly wrong and I have to reconsider things. On second sight, made me think, maybe I asked the wrong question or the question itself doesnt make any sense. Im confused and need some advice.

Thank you in advance! :bows:

ps: I dont know if it matters but the last time I asked guidence from the I Ching a few years ago I got hexagram 15 changing to hexagram 2. Twice in a row. The question was: "What is my destiny I have to fulfill?" I'd like to stay true to this divination. Even though im not sure what it means :)

Line 4.4 is interesting. It warns one against viewing your situation too idealistically or like a visionary. For example, there is very little you can actually do in the real world with just a Masters Degree in psychology. One needs to get a Ph.D. to open a practice as a psychologist. And having a practice means seeing patients who are having psychological problems; treating patients. It is a medical field. People are covered for their sessions with a psychologist through their medical insurance. And so it is necessary to see the people who come to see the psychologist as "sick." They need to carry a medical diagnosis in order to be covered by medical insurance.

I think you need to find out more about the field before you invest time and money in an academic education. There is a reality here that you need to know about. :)
