Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding the meaning of 'Resoluteness, decisiveness' with relation to another persons view of me.

Line 3

Nine in the third place means;
To be powerful in the cheekbones
Brings misfortune.
The superior man is firmly resolved.
He walks alone and is caught in the rain.
He is bespattered,
And people murmur against him.
No blame.

Here we have a man in an ambiguous situation. While all others are engaged in a resolute fight against all that is inferior he alone has a certain relationship with an inferior man. If he were to show strength outwardly and turn against this man before the time is ripe, he would only endanger the entire situation, because the inferior man would too quickly have recourse to countermeasures. The task of the superior man becomes extremely difficult here. He must be firmly resolved within himself and, while maintaining association with the inferior man, avoid any participation in his vileness. He will of course be misjudged. It will be thought that he belongs to the party of the inferior man. He will be lonely because no one will understand him. His relations with the inferior man will sully him in the eyes of the multitude, and they will turn against him, grumbling. But he can endure this lack of association and makes no mistake, because he remains true to himself.

I understand that this means that the path of who you are is a lonely one, but you must stick to your convictions even though the world might turn against you.

I am interested in the social part of this line; as in, the association of an inferior with a superior and the blockages that infer...

Am I the inferior man here?

The Hex moves to 58;

THE JUDGMENT

THE JOYOUS. Success.
Perseverance is favorable.

The joyous mood is infectious and therefore brings success. But joy must be based on steadfastness if it is not to degenerate into uncontrolled mirth. Truth and strength must dwell in the heart, while gentleness reveals itself in social intercourse. In this way, one assumes the right attitude toward God and man and achieves something. under certain conditions, intimidation without gentleness may achieve something momentarily, but not for all time. When, on the other hand, the hearts of men are won by friendliness, they are led to take all hardships upon themselves willingly, and if need be will not shun death itself, so great is the power of joy over men.

Am i right to conclude that although there has been alot of gossip about me i have been misjudged, and that the way forward is to express myself through joy and friendliness?

Thank you

Yx

Wilhelm's commentary on 43 is interesting, and I think extremely well written.

43 as ones proclamation, statement, song, zeal, seal of authority, right to speech and expression from who you are; it is against this backdrop that one goes overboard with his cheek bones, and he's left alone, standing on his soapbox in the rain. But, with all that, he went home true to his convictions - no blame. He shouldn't count on being very popular afterwards. Course there's always the Prince Chi insanity plea. But you can't take yourself seriously then.

It depends how you look at it. Consider that a lot of this can take place within our own heads, affecting our moods etc. The special relationship may be between you and your secrets, your taboos, your memories. You can't "come out of the closet" with it just yet, because your "church friends" will disown you or look down on you, you think to yourself. This special relationship is one of familiarity with the darker aspects of our personalities.

What comes to my mind is the cartoon of a "repent, the end is near" sign guy, standing in the rain, smiling - 58.

This could be a simple as - he thought you were fun and interesting. That you spoke your mind, or maybe your heart. Or, maybe that was you, or maybe both of you. Telling one another how you feel, sharing intense likes and dislikes, is a vibrant and personal exchange. What's wrong with that? Maybe your chemistry is explosive, and maybe you wanna watch for that, but 58 is exchanging with one another, even over a beer, and declaring yxeli.
