Can this line signify the end of a process of reflection which results in the loss of an illusion - a false belief which has caused humiliation the querent?

Humiliation, but the end is reached.

The way I've always seen it is that it's a situation in which someone is capable and brilliant, but doesn't believe that they are, so they suffer humiliation in that regard, while still achieving what they
must due to their brilliance.

To sum it up in a few words: "Lack of Self-Confidence"

But your idea makes a lot of sense. Especially if the false belief was one that put undue stress on you.

MrYou1 "Lack of Self-Confidence" has been a central dimension - a big piece of the jigsaw. Thank you. When I feel a "click" like this it makes me believe in the precision of the Yi all over again. It's accompanied by a rare feeling of sympathy or compassion. Which is again helpful. In a way as a theist I wonder if the Yi is the voice of God. Hmmmm
