Hi All-I asked what my gift to give to the world is... and got that pesky 48.2 that has been haunting me and I just can’t seem to grasp. ••I’m thinking the 48.2 part means others can learn from my mistakes? Just a stab in the dark. The 48.5 part makes some sense to me. I’m guessing it is a source of nourishment that I can offer through being open and humble and unassuming. In doing so I can be a safe harbor for those who resonate. But if anyone can help me incorporate the entire reading I would sincerely appreciate it. 48.2.5 >15

Hello Chelsa!

What is my gift to give to the world?48.2.5 >15
The image of Well (48): "The Superior Man encourages the people with advice and assistance." You are a potential source of help & goodness towards people...
48.2: "The well is like a valley (it is collapsed). The fish can be seen. The jug is old and it leaks." However not ready to offer your gift at this moment, as you need to repair and recover yourself first. Also, you should find the proper means for offering (your jug leaks).
48.5: "The well is pure, the cold spring is used for drinking." Then you'll be able to give your wonderful gift to the world with Modesty (15).

Beautiful cast. Good luck!

cannot disagree with what Mary's already said, as she's put it so well (no pun intended)... :D

48.2 could also point to drawing attention within and figuring out what qualities you might want to bring out and then working on these things. this could be either some self-development work first but also could mean just polishing or solidifying some tangible skill(s) you already posses, yet aren't fully using at the moment or have been neglecting?

for 48.5, aside from the obvious (once the above is accomplished the water is clear and you'll be ready to offer your gift to the world) might just add the comment from Wilhelm:
A man who has virtues like a well of this sort is born to be a leader and savior of men, for he has the water of life.

as to 15 being the final result, indeed - quite possibly it's about sharing your gift with or through modesty. maybe it's also worth to look at what the hexagram is made of - mountain & earth, that is - keeping still (maybe some silent, meditative strength) & receptive (let's not forget that receptivity or sensitivity of earth doesn't lack creative powers ;)).

Repairing (48.2) then Sharing (48.5).

It might be interesting to note what happens, how you feel, if you make a point of clearing out your closets and then recycling these (15) modest gifts.

Hi-Thank you so much to everyone who responded. I’m very sorry to not have replied. I didn’t even realize I received responses. I honestly am not entirely sure how my gifts are playing out in the world but I do resonate with the well. My entire life I have always desired to just be a loving person. I often walk into situations thinking how can I make this person feel very special or loved. I never knew how that fit in with my purpose tho. I am realizing maybe line 2 that rather than trying to be my version of a “good person” for instance volunteering for charities that my heart wasn’t fully invested. Line 5 going within and listening to the natural impulse of my heart and how it is being directed and then having the courage to show up in that way is enough. For instance when I genuinely desire to connect with someone or feel an impulse to compliment them or be appreciative of them or etc not shying away from letting them know and being clean in that it’s not offered w expectation just simply an act of sharing love. Being loving I am learning doesn’t mean “doing” being loving for me means being myself vulnerabilities and all. Showing up completely and unapologetically with a heart full of love and service. This feels right for me and because it’s not something I’m doing but being I’ve found that it is enough. It feels right. I don’t know if I’m changing the world. I don’t know if I’m offering any gifts to it. But I walk away from a ton of exchanges filled with happiness and love and connection.
