Hexagram 48 changing line 6

Hello everyone,
I am studying an advanced degree in Computer Science. I am working on a research project which has to be submitted by end of next month. I am in a desperate situation.I am stuck on a problem and am trying hard from 2 weeks and I am well behind my timetable. I asked whether I will be able to get over this and make any progress.
I got Hexagram 48 changing line 6. Can anyone pls tell me what the result means?? I don't know much about hexagrams. Is it changing to 58? and is that a good news for my tensed situation??

I made a mistake it should be turning to 57...when I receive 48 changing line 6. Pls tell me guys what it means anyways coz I hardly know anything beyond this.

48.6 is generally a favorable meaning, I believe. And 57, interestingly enough, could mean almost the opposite of 48.6.

48.6 is letting the source flow uninhibitedly. Don't cover it, don't hold back. The source of your material is available (perhaps within); you have what you need to accomplish this.

57 is gentle penetration from underneath, and since this is associated with wind/air, I would associate it with mental penetration. 57 could mean two things; One : that maybe trying too hard mentally is counter-productive here/ let intuition and passion be your guide (the water from the well)
or Two: let the intelligence needed for this work's accomplishment gently penetrate from underneath. Less heavy mental struggle and more gentle penetration.

Sometimes when I have written scholarly papers, I have felt stuck and a kind of writer's block. BUt if I move forward regardless, I have found that what I needed was available to me all the time, and it emerges as I let it come... as I get my fear and panic out of the way, and just allow for the words and information to flow forth, almost as if from my heart moreso than my mind. The facts are one thing....how they come together and form connections, create significance and become a presentation...is another. The "heart" does that better than the mind alone, IMO.

Both 48.6 and 57 seem to affirm that you have what it takes. Let it emerge without censor.

Just a second thought here....could 48.6 be saying that you are too unfocused, and "all over the place"....with lots of material (too much?) and passion?
Maybe 57 then advises to gently penetrate the situation with your mental faculties; become like a sword, separating and honing all this wonderful stuff into workable order, and let it become yours, authentically, to offer.
Just a thought!

Hi Nirali,
In my view 48.6 is about a situation where one who is used to providing now needs to take in. Like a teacher who now needs to listen and learn, someone who usually nurtures who now needs to be nurtured, a giver who needs to receive. That person will have a tendency to resist this, but it shouldn't be resisted.

In your situation this may mean that you expect to already have the answers and write them down for your research project, but what you really need to do is learning the answers, asking questions.

Hello,
I recently had a meeting with my guide and realised that the ideas I had in mind for dealing with a problem were correct but just needed some organizing. I had been at this problem from a very long time and was just at some sort of deadlock and inertial state. It looks like I will be able to get something to work now eventually.
Can anyone please tell me whether the reading suggests that I am walking on the right path? or should I cast a new hexagram for it?

Hi Nirali - I think 48.6 was about what you just described.
You might want to cast another hexagram, but my sense is that you're fine.

You are lucky, the Yi is obviously telling you that you can do it! Top line of 48.6 signifies that the well is accessable (water has reached the top of the well) and that you can resolve your research question by gently penetrating into it! You possibly had a mental bloc and they Yi recommends the way to go about to remove this bloc!
