Hi everyone,
May I have some assistance with a reading?
I asked Yi, why don't I have any friends?

Hello !
5.1.5 - 46 : Yi advises you to be patient while waiting for friends.
Line 1: "Waiting in the meadow. It is advantageous to stay in what lasts. No blame": There's only something in the air that's going to come. It is the right to maintain the regularity of life (Wengu Tartarie).
Line 5: "Waiting with wine and food. Perseverance brings fortune". (Don't drink too much anyway :)).
46 is the process of your evolution... be patient, it's ok !

Waiting while surrounded by people you don’t know - like waiting in line at the store.
"Strangers are just friends we haven't met yet"?

5.5 Reaching out and being friendly to others.
Don't just wait for the friends to appear, cultivate the people you have around you now.

46. Making even small efforts will eventually lead to having some great friends.

Sounds like the way to have a friend is to be one.

why don't I have any friends? 5.1.5 > 46
The answer says that the reason you don't have friends is a) you leave in a remote or suburbian place, so not many people around, and b) because you're actually quite happy where you are. 46 says you're not really that worried about it (?), or that it can actually be overcome easily.

I am working all the time, and I dont have access to a lot of socializing. What made me ask this is because I always feel like I go the extra mile and that I am ignored. Maybe I am asking the wrong question or I am probably not phrasing it correctly.

Yeah, I have been exactly that but I am thinking that I am attempting to make friends with the wrong people. I may not have phrased the question correctly.

Yeah, I think when you ask a question you have to be careful about how you phrase it. If you ask, "Why don't I have any friends?" the answer will tell you everything that's wrong with you but hearing that you don't have friends because you work alone (46) doesn't help you. So you gotta ask in a positive way: "How come I have so many friends?" or "Who should I cultivate as a friend?" or "Describe what a happy social life would be for me".
Good luck!

Another suggestion: "What can I do to find compatible friends?"

I think it's a reassuring answer. The I Ching can respond to what is in your heart it isn't wholly dependent on the words you use.

I think 5.1.5>46 here suggests you need to relax and enjoy yourself more, maybe even when you are around others. Like if there is a gathering for some reason don't rush off at the end, relax take your time. Line 5 really is encouraging you to take more time with your pleasures in life generally. Enjoy your food and drink, take time over it, worry much less. If you find yourself rushing just pause for a moment and ask yourself why exactly you are rushing. My sense with this casting is that there are connections 'waiting in the wings' as it were (line 1) and relaxation and enjoyment can encourage approach. So think about whatever leisure activities you enjoy and try to slow down and appreciate them more. For example if you do a gym class don't be too fast in rushing off at the end because a lot of connections are made in between things, they are made in those pauses in life where we think not much is happening.
