Hexagram 50.1 Filmmaking project

Hello, Folks,

I asked the oracle what would be the consequences of completing a specific film project, and the reading I got was Hexagram 50.1 changing to 14.

I can read this as Yes go for it. There is an obstacle in the way that needs to be addressed. Turn everything upside down, all preconceived notions, and approach the project in a fresh and new way. That will get me beyond the obstacle and success will result.

Or I read it as No, don't do this project at all. Forget about it, it's going to turn me upside down. Stop this project now, find the obstacle, and get past it. All will be auspicious.

I think the Hexagram 50, The Cauldron, or "Taking up the New", is less about scrapping a project and more about beginning one. Your first interpretation not only resonates with my own experiences of this line, but the fact that it transforms into H14 , "Possession in Great Measure" reinforces that the Yi Jing is telling you to go for it with this project.:bows:

The cauldron thrown upside confused me. The cauldron is supposed to be the source that I'm somehow connecting to -- with this particular project -- and yet it being turned upside down suggested that this connection would be lost.

And I'm not quite sure how to read, "Acquire a concubine for a son."

But my feeling is leaning more in the way that this project is a go, and that I will have a major obstacle, or obstacles to get past but ultimately all will be good. Thanks so much for your take on it, foxx777.

It is just being turned upsidedown to be cleaned out and restored but it is highly possible for you to flip it back over and start cooking again.

Is it possible there is something in the film, something on the base level, that might be hindering the film from it being what you want it to be? Something that the plot grows off of? Waaay in the guts of it? Some underlying theme or story part, that would need cleaned out and rethought? (Sorry for all of the questions!)

It could be possible to start over, and once you do, with a fresh start, some of the creative ideas you originally thought of will still come back and play a part, and the cleaning would make sure that they are one's that truely fit the film.

It almost sounds to me, because of the 14, that you have a really grand film idea, just like a new recipe and you are the chef. It just so happens that you need to clean out your cooking pot first, or the food will pick up bits from the last meal..

These are such excellent questions. And yes, there are some interesting conflicts that I will need to resolve at the deeper end of the pool, for example, some aspects of the writing that might be controversial. There Additionally, the direction of the this particular story is quite different from what I've done in the past, stuff I've not had any experience doing. I have often read it as, "One acquires a concubine in order to have a son". This could mean doing something in a nontraditional way, or outsourcing, in terms of the project, to my thinking. :bows:

i received 50.1 to 14 when I asked this morning about the meaning of a dream I had in which i received a "payment" that arrived via a small fedex box. (i took possession of the package but did not open it.)

(and dreamt last week of receiving hexagram 14.)

I agree with the interpretations I've read and I agree that this project will be very much worth going thorugh with it ... I wish you all the luck in the world with your movie Kitoman and I know how much work it is and how difficult it can be (been in far over 40 movies myself and have co-produced some too)
