Hi, I asked, "what do I need to know about situation X"?
It sounds like something is seriously spoiled and corrupt.
How, walking into such a situation, may I turn this advice into something constructive?
Rather than feeling doomed, like, "oh my God, I should stay away," ?
Thoughts?

So I'll add. I asked how to make something constructive out of this reading and received:

58.4 to 60
I interpret this to mean that I could cause problems if I worry too much but if I see the situation as it is (recognizing its limitations), I may prosper.

and then I asked, "how will the situation go if I take this advice"

23. 5 to 20

23 suggests my own divided mind or the problematic situation itself, while 5 has always puzzled me. It may be to say that there's a favorable element, in this situation, that can be cultivated, especially if I please the ladies in charge. I shall contemplate (20) how to do so.

Hi loverofknowledge,
I think 58.4 is telling you to change your perspective of the situation. I think you can find joy in this but it cannot be pre-calculated.

As for 23.5 to 20. I think I Ching is just telling you again that, the situation isn't great (23). However, taking the advice, things will change in your favor (.5).

This doesn't look like a situation that you should be fearful of. I think this could be a great experience for you, whatever it may be. Go into it with a welcoming attitude. Give and take with sincerity. Good luck to you.

Hey

58.4 I think is about decision making and not lowering yourself , not making the decision is causing the issue,
23.5 I see at the moment as putting things in the correct places or taking the "correct advice or maybe not the easy way out" if you do this then you should wait for the results 20. I think 20 is a very favourable hex as in this example i believe you are even being advised on what to do after you have done what you need to do.

I am starting to see it as neutral hex, that like its says represents a tower, and it just stands there a bit like the well. However it gives insight , I used to think it was boring early when discovering the meaning of the hex's LOL its frustrating when you want action sometimes and receive 20 however but its kind of a solid position to be in or can be. I am starting to appreciate the hex so much more. Like in my situation last night I really got an image of it representing a solid business. In this case its a solid place to see how your decision reflects. Hex 5 waiting is usually worse I think, like waiting in mud is not fun, so to get clarity you need to make correct decisions then things will fall into place.

Hope i made sense

Thank you Flax and Steve!
Flax: I like what you say about 58.4 -- to change my perspective of the situation in order to find joy that is not pre-calculated, very nicely expressed, and it makes sense. 23.5 goes right along with your reading, since it presents a rather gracious moment. Like you say, I'll go in with a welcoming attitude.
Steve, 58.4 about the decision making process and not lowering myself : that's an angle I hadn't considered. It seems right.
I know what you mean about 20. I think of it as a little bit uneventful, myself, but like you say, a clarity of looking or watching can represent something very solid to come.

Since I started with 50.4 to 18, it occurs to me that it may be best to stick to one question, though I do often ask for clarifications, as I did here.
The most intriguing line for me is 23.5

I used to gasp when i looked at 18 as well, nowadays I appreciate the advise that something needs to fixed and not to ignore that fact, you cant really move forward untill you do and once you do there is a sense of accomplishment.

I see 23.5 as things naturally in there place as a shoal of fishes or maids walking behind a princess, there are in fact all over the place yet in order, I worked for a publishing company like that was all over the shop but made millions, it used to boggle my mind but it was what it was.

That's an interesting image for 23.5. Thanks Steve. I never know what to make of the line when I get it. It seems moderately encouraging, but I always get baffled by the fish/court ladies and whether it invites some action, if any. The idea 'things are all over the place yet in order' expresses it beautifully: things are falling apart and it is just right.
