Hi, A close friend has been living a marriage of convenience for many years and his wife has now asked for a divorce, apparently to become eligible for the age pension. Question for this reading was: What are L's real motives to initiate the divorce?
Received Hexagram 51 with moving lines 1 and 6, changing into 35.
Insights appreciated. Thank you.

Reading looks like it is consistent with her explanation. It's a shock, and it works out well.

Shock can be explained in many different ways... maybe it was the 'shock' of an arranged marriage (even if she was expecting it, it's a pretty big change in one's life). Maybe she suddenly needs money? I often read that when the only changing lines are 1 and 6 it means something is passing... like a shooting star. Line 35 - progress. She feels her marriage is hindering her (making her ineligible for the age pension)? She feels the best thing to do for herself is divorce.

Wow, great. Thank you so much. I then asked, will anything change after the divorce or will it just be a change on paper? Received 56.2.5 changing to 44. I am still learning, so am not up to speed with interpreation.

Hmm... I'm not really sure how to interpret the lines but the hexes (and the little I can gather from line 2 and 5) indicate perhaps she will become involved in passing liaisons?

Line 56 - Can meab traveling but in this context I assume her 'heart' (or her physical interest) might wander.
Hex 44 - liason. Female power (which she might want to express or develop).

But the lines is what confuse me... they don't sound negative. I'm not sure if they apply to her or the marriage.

I hope someone else posts and can be of more help.

Hi Cathalina, thank you and to give you further insight into the situation, I have been encouraging him to follow his heart (he has a beautiful girlfriend) but he has been afraid to do so, because of how it might impact on his adult sons. So, now she is divorcing him for financial reasons and he is afraid to ask the crucial questions, what does it actually mean.
