Hi,

Could somebody please tell me how to interpret Hexagram 62 with line 3. I asked the IChing what was my reason for incarnation?/What was my destiny? And I received Hexagram 62 with line 3. Does this mean that I should hide away and never aspire to be anything ?????

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

aminaj,
Personally, I am not a fan of "destiny" readings because I think the Yi is a reflector of immediate issues, i.e. speaks to the energy present in a given situation, at a given time.

that said, as a "destiny" or "incarnation reason" reading, I would suspect 62.3 advises that you are perhaps one who works underneath the scenes, one who is acutely in touch with the needs of the planet at this time...as such, it is your mission to act conscientiously from behind the scenes, ever mindful that your astute consciousness is of value and is needed in ways that will not be glaring or drawing too much outer attention. I would never interpret a reading to mean you are to do nothing, aspire to "nothing" ....Do what you will in the outer world, but keep in mind that working in consciousness , quietly and with conscientiousness, is a great service unto itself, even if it never draws the limelight.

On the other hand, if the reading is immediate and referring to the now, I would take it to mean that you simply must pay attention to detail at this time, and perhaps work from within. Lofty aspirations are not ripe yet, (maybe not clear to you completely), there is still a foundation to be laid down, lest you try to fly too soon. Maybe you need to construct your dreams, give them form (mentally), draw the blueprint with fine detail.

62 Hsiao Kuo - Preponderance of the Small
62.0 - The Judgement
This hexagram provides instruction on how to proceed when one lacks sufficient skills or force or help for the task at hand. Generally speaking, success can be achieved by cultivating modesty (but not subservience), deference, humility, and by keeping one’s ambitions on the low side (but avoid being trivial).

62.3 - Line 3
When there is preponderance of the small, one must be careful to the extreme. Acting like a big shot will incur attacks.
16 Yü - Enthusiasm
16.0 - The Judgement
This hexagram provides instruction on how to arouse people to work together for the common good. It requires an able person who is in touch with the needs and sentiments of the people, and who knows how to make them see how working together will accrue benefits for everyone.

It could be saying that you should cultivate being humble. Being humble might attract what you need or people to help you. They might say "Hey he doesnt have a big head and does his job right. Let me help him or see if I can get help from him. Or by seeing your humilty (teaching by example) people might be encouraged to put thier egos aside and do the right thing.

I can see how someone could say "Does this mean that I should hide away and never aspire to be anything ????? " but still though. Since this is your destiny reading you should see a good counselor on it and meditate on it somemore. Peace.
