Hexagram 64.4.5 to 59: What would be the outcome of writing a particular screenplay?

I asked what would result from writing a screenplay on aliens. This work is only an idea at this point.
Background: I once wrote and directed films but now have a career in a completely different field. This idea has been gestating for a while.

Well first it would be better to share a couple of thoughts. What do you think? What does the oracle tell you? How does it resonate? Do you need to know the outcome first, before you make the effort of writing?

Seen from outside, and very generally spoken, this is a situation which is not yet completed. You'd have to overcome some challenging difficulties (64.4) and the outcome will be good (64.5).

It's hard to say exactly what will happen, but it sounds like it'd be good to try, at least.

Primary hexagram 64 combined with relating hexagram 59 - the primary hexagram is usually the objective reality, and the relating hexagram is how you relate to it, how it feels to you, a belief you have, or just the context in which things take place. It's usually more subjective.

64 means you're still on the near bank, preparing. I'm not sure what to make of it as a result, since that's what your question was. You did say it's just an idea right now, though, maybe that's it.

You have a river to cross which is a big undertaking. 64 means it's a good idea to make sure you're ready and that you pick the right time to start.

The oracle says
'Not yet across, creating success.
The small fox, almost across [or almost crossing]
Soaks its tail:
No direction bears fruit.'

You don't want to soak your tail, so you prepare before starting out, and you use "fox sense."

59 - hard to tell how it will show itself. It can be formlessness, flooding, spreading out, overflowing boundaries, not being contained. Its name is Dispersing or Scattering.

Since you asked for a result, I suppose it could mean "Dispersing" the screenplay to people who can do something with it, I don't know. It might have a little resonance with "radiance" in line 5 - both seem outward or beyond to me.

Or maybe it means it'll be hard to keep it from overspilling its boundaries and getting out of hand. Although since you're already an experienced screenplay writer, you probably know how to deal with that sort of thing.


As Mandarin said, line 4 says it might take a while and won't be easy. Demon Country is something that keeps coming back to cause trouble. It's hard to defeat.

I had it not long ago where I think it meant my chronic habit of wanting to do just one more little thing before I get started with what I'm supposed to be doing. And of course it never ends up being just one little thing. I have to keep defeating the demon, over and over.

Line 5 certainly seems encouraging, but maybe it depends on defeating whatever the demons are.

Here’s the promised update:
My reaction did not bring the matter to conclusion. Line 64.4 ‘s Demon Country has continued causing trouble and no dissolution (59) has happened yet. Still counting on the rewards after the hopefully not literal three years…!
