hexagram 9 to 20

I'm struggling to move ahead with my current job / career; every turn seems to encounter a perceived roadblock. I asked the I ching what was likely if I continued to pursue this path and threw hexagram 9 changing lines 1.2.3

I would appreciate any input, I'm very frustrated right now.

Hexagram 9 is on the side of restraint. You have these dense clouds promising rain, but as yet...no moisture. One yearns for hexagram 41. I think here you are being told the time is not yet ripe to pursue your ends w/r career. Time to hold back and focus on something completely unrelated to your job right now. I am a poet and when I get stuck in a poem I try to write 'off the subject' of the poem or put it down and play poker online or go out to the club and play bridge. Something so that my mind is preoccupied and I am not sitting there like a lump waiting for the time to change. Patience is never a drag. The third line is a warning against 'moving ahead' especially by force.

Nothing to do here but wait. Perhaps you got roadblocks because you were pushing ahead. That is what line one commentary in Wilhelm suggests. All in all the first three lines warn against pushing ahead.

Hex 20 is about seeing and being seen. Are you in a situation where your success depends on you being noticed by the higher ups? 9 - 20 seems to suggest that if you continue the path you are on you will ultimately be recognized, or perhaps that you will ultimately see what it is you need to do. Meanwhile, washing off your front door is a feng shui technique for attracting attention.

The lines are telling you to stay still and don't over estimate your abilities even though you want to move ahead, do not buck the system, concentrate on what you are doing to the best of your ability, cooperate with the others and be patient, don't fight the situation because you will come right unstuck. I have a feeling that you have already attracted some negative attention, so sit back and keep quiet as you don't want anymore people staring at you now.

Hex 20 is telling you to doing nothing other than contemplate your situation to see where you are going wrong and to not make any more silly mistakes.

Yes but your question was what happens if you continue to pursue this career path.
Looks like if you do you won't make fast progress, will suffer some frustration. So rather than the counsel just being to sit still where you are, maybe its just saying this path is going to frustrate you - think about it, do you want to continue ? Maybe another path would be better - your answer doesn't tell you to stay on this path exactly i don't think
