Hello Friends,

In the ongoing ten year saga of -- Oh Where To Live? and Will The House Ever Sell? -- I've come to the moment when the house sold, I have some cash in hand, and I've found a rental that is a dream.

There is ONE wrinkle. This place is on an estate where the owner is concerned about who will fit in with the existing culture. There are 24 houses in all and it is a working cattle operation. Doesn't bother me -- I grew up in farming country, rode horses, milked cows, you name it. But he has a couple from far afield to see the house later this month -- and then he'll decide who to let to. He said he's already promised them he'd wait to show them the house and he can't withdraw that. I think it must be in his interest to show them, or he wouldn't have promised, which would indicate to me the couple looking may be potential employees -- a gamekeeper or a gillie.

In a way I'm put off and think I should go another direction and not wait for the outcome of his decision. But I love this house and it could be a long term solution for me. Because I thought I had the place -- and then heard of other viewers, I wrote an email to owner of the estate and explained that I am interested for the long term, I couldn't imagine a better home for me, and I will wait out the interim in the hope of having the house. A statement of my position basically, since he had given his.

I've asked the Yi how likely it is that I will get the property??

The answer was hexagram 6 becoming hexagram 35.

Line two would say NO WAY, "can not master this argument" and sounds rather final. Then along comes Line five that says to me putting forth your argument wins out.....and with a background hex of 35 that indicates there may be a way forward.

Maybe in terms of "likelihood" of having the place it means 50/50 chance?

Hexagram 6 isn't the most familiar to me. I rarely cast it. Any other consideration you know of on how to read this?

Hello :).
Nicely summed up, tents can look quite elegant with all of those little flags swaying in the breeze...;)
Perhaps the renter gave his word and it is in his best interest to rent to those whom he finds most fitting. Does not have to be settled yet.
The lines suggest to me that you should do something to prove you would be an welcomed asset for that community...perhaps make friends with potential neighbors, or somebody of reputation who could say something in your favor to the landlord in terms of your past experiences with work with animals and character and so on...make yourself visible in that sense, Visit a fair if there is one or something of a sort..you`ll know ;)

Nine in the fifth place means:

To contend before him
Brings supreme good fortune.

This refers to an arbiter in a conflict who is powerful and just, and strong enough to lend weight to the right side. A dispute can be turned over to him with confidence. If one is in the right, one attains great good fortune.

It is worth trying, if you are interested in making a progress right?

The week before I was advised to see this property I'd been at a party at this Local Laird's home and he remembered that right away -- so was evidently impressed. It was a "do" involving about 100 people, so hardly an intimate occasion. But I went in support of a charity he heads up. And, as said, when he explained there might be competition for the house -- I gave my stance as a good tenant who will be there for the long term.

I think, knowing how these Local Lairds behave, you can only push so much interest or information -- and then they blank out. So I suspect what I've presented so far is what will stand -- I hope it is the right "pitch"; but who knows. I have to say it's something of a pain in the neck to deal in this part of society. But on the other hand, it's an amazing house and i don't have to see him every day if i live there;).

ah, but a word from a right person at the right time.... I think dragona was suggesting a champion. Do you know someone who LL holds in high regard who may be able to mention what a jolly good old sport you are? ;)

Well then, if he remembered that event as favorable, it would be good for him to notice you communicating with people and show interest in the life of the community....underlined text seemed as an advice to find someone who may nod the head or put a word, yes...a reference..in the worse case scenario, you meet a few people, maybe get a few tips...

The one person I do know -- and I'd have to be tactful asking her -- is the woman of his dreams whom he wanted desperately to marry, but she wasn't interested, as much as they are friends. She has remained single all her life. I worked with her for several years and could just mention to her that I am hoping to let this place, see what she says. I'll give it a try anyway. Many thanks!
