Hello dear iching friends,

I need some help in understanding these reading about a house I am selling. I would love for this house to be sold already as me and my family really need the money to move forward. There are 2 potential buyers who will let us know in the next week if they would like to the house or not.

My question to the yi was - what do I need to know about the house sale at this time? and go
30 line 4 to 22. Hmm this seems to say that yes these people who are interested have given us hope but it will burn out quickly and they wont take the house? hope im wrong

the next question was - what are the chances the house will sell in the next few weeks? and recieved hex 30 unchanging

Thats 30 twice in the reading, so it must be of importance. Is it refering to my own feeling of the expectations of the sale? as in I am not seeing things clearly due to my exactions for the sale?

Please if someone can shed some light-
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on any other questions to ask in relation to the house to see more clearly, I would appreciate it.

30.4 looks like a buyer that backs out.
30 looks the chances are that it will sell soon anyway,

I think it easily could mean that, but that doesn't guarantee it does mean that. Sometimes it's hard to know exactly what Yi meant until afterwards.

Probably so. It could be referring you back to the first reading, as in Yi saying, "What did I just tell you?" That could be the scenario if these two current buyers are all you have going for the next few weeks, and if they are indeed flashes in the pan. In other words, 30 as "clarity," be perfectly clear with yourself that the potential sales might not work out.

Have you had a steady stream of interested people, or not?

Another way to look at 30uc might be as advice, what you should do. Hexagram 30 is the trigram li,which means "light," [edited: more precisely, "fire"] doubled. Shedding light on something, awareness, illumination, understanding. In the context of selling a house it might mean continuing to shine light on it and make people aware of it, in other words, advertising, marketing, however those things are done in real estate.

Also, the oracle text says:
'Clarity.
Constancy bears fruit.
Creating success.
Raising female cattle is good fortune.'


Have clarity, be constant (keep at it), create success (possibly vs. success will just happen). "Female cattle" are resources that will produce more resources. What are the resources you need? Could it be potential buyers, people looking at the house? Could it be saying to keep tending that herd (so to speak), do what's necessary to keep people coming by? Are there other sorts of resources you need? Help with advertising? Are you satisfied with your real estate agent's efforts? Is he/she getting people to visit? Etc. Think about what resources you need, and what is necessary to "raise" them.

The hexagram's Image, which is advice to a "noble one," says this:
'Doubled light gives rise to Clarity.
Great People with continuous light illuminate the four regions.'


Could that suggest you expand the geographical area you're advertising in? Or try more different ways of advertising? Anything that could be described as, "don't just go in one direction, go in many directions," i.e "illuminate the four regions."

Also, the relating hexagram in your first reading is 22, Making Beautiful. Is there any way that should be taken literally, do you think? Personally I am annoyed by real estate agents who basically want the owners not to live there while it's on the market, so that at all times it looks like a magazine photo, BUT 22 is in the reading, so are there reasonable ways you could make the house more attractive? 22 is often about making things look nice so that the underlying essence can be seen. Is there anything about your property that might cause people not to look further?

P.S. Oh, just as I was about to post, I noticed Moss Elk thinks 30 is a hopeful reading that it will sell soon. That would be nice!

Thank you Moss Elk and Liselle for your responses. There hasen´t being many people making offers on the house. I think the idea of making the house more attractive is definitely something I can actively do. Also we have a few state agents working on the house with no much luck, advertisment on all the house websites in the city.. I could look into more movement as well

We have an offer now from one of the interested people, it is much lower than the asking price. This is his first offer and we will meet with him on Monday to discuss further. We will try to negotiate with him. I am not sure maybe 30 line 4 suggests he wont go any higher therefore he will be like a flash in the pan. This offer seems a little unreasonable.

I asked the yi further if we should take the offer - hexagram 12 line 1.5 to 21 ... hmm blocked, is this hex saying no, dont take the offer... line 1 pulling out the roots, maybe we need to dig deeper. Wait for another offer? or negotiate for a higher price, line 5 seize the opportunity, I am a little confused with this answer to be honest. The relating hex 21 i think does refer to some sort of negotiation, biting through.

I asked what is the best course of action to take towards the offer. the question is very similar to the 1st. I got hex 10 unch. Hmm not sure, who is the tiger. Also would the unch form of 10 suggest being patient? maybe the better buyer will come along. I dont wana loose the client if this is the best we got. but I guess we cant tell the future.

I think it is all pointing to careful negotiation, but like 4 from 30 the previous reading could suggest this guy wont budge.

Don't feed predators.
12: seperate, don't take compensation,
21 punish him by refusing his offer.

It's hard to tell from the reading. I mean, your question wasn't about expanding your advertising, it was about the chances of the house selling in the next few weeks. If you're already advertising in a widespread manner, Yi might simply have been acknowledging that. I don't know.

You could consider asking a question specifically for advice, something like, "What can I do to get better offers?" or "What does this sales endeavor most need from me now?" or something.

10 unchanging - what is the tiger, what is the scary, powerful thing you're treading nervously behind. Do you think it could be your worry that the current low offer is the best you'll get? I could see being worried that not accepting it will "come back to bite you" if there aren't ever any better offers.

I think it's possible Yi's saying that won't happen. Obviously I can't be sure - it's easy enough to be off on the wrong track with Yi readings. But the oracle text answers your question by literally saying it won't bite you:

'Treading a tiger's tail.
It does not bite people.
Creating success.'


And the Image text strikes me as very relevant:

'Heaven above, lake below.
Treading.
A noble one differentiates above and below,
And makes a place for the people's aspiration.'


Look at the words there. It's discussing differentiating between high and low, and that's what you're dealing with - low or high offers. Then it says, "makes a place for the people's aspiration," - you are aspiring to a higher offer, and it says a place is made for that.

House on sale - Hex 30

Concerning Hexagram 30 which appear several times:

Time domain
You metal year (fling): hollow element: chen earth , si fire
You metal month(fling): hollow element: mao wood, yin wood.
Shen metal month (luck): hollow element: zi water, chou earth
The reading

30.6 yang; brother si fire (host) - year void, couple to day -
30.5 ying; child wei earth
30.4 yang; wife you metal (month & year commander)
30.3 yang; officer hai water (guest line)
30.2 ying; child chou earth (day void)
30.1 yang; parent mao wood (month void & conflict with the month you metal)

Perhaps price is set too high at present (up to October 7) because 30.1 the parent mao wood = property is month void and month conflict.

Child line at 30.2 chou earth and 30.5 wei earth are the potential buyer.
Child 30.2 is day void under the day of shen metal and therefore this buyer will not be interested.
Child 30.5 is customer wei earth. Line 1 & 3 & 5 forms the hai water, mao wood, wei earth (3-way) union to form wood. Wood is month void.

The guest line is the officer line which depletes the wealth. One of the possibilities is that the customer cannot afford the house or is checking financing.

Line 6 brother line may be your real estate representative. He/she robs the wealth and is also year void. His performance is so, so. There are certain internal disagreement with his own agency or mortgage firm.

House will not be sold before October 7 because it is month void. By October 8 or after, it is the month of xu earth which couples to the house mao wood. However, mao wood is still month void, but not month conflict.

Money line you metal is strong at present as month commander. Since house is month void, then the buyers does not want to pay what you ask for.

Hexagram 30 is a six strike hexagram. It normally means not good for earnings. Compromise is needed for this house deal.

Additional readings are needed if the house is not moving to sales after October 8 2017. Prior to this date, sales is difficult except on day of Oct 7 yin wood, Oct 8 mao wood.

There is certain deficiency in the property that the buyer may pick on. This is just a guess.

Additional information

Hex 30.4 to Hex 22.
22.4 is child xu earth and returns back to wealth at 30.4. Custom is not offering.

22.6 parent yin wood and 22.4 parent mao wood means the property is month void. No serious inquiry or offer at all during the month void period.

22.5 is officer zi water (day void). Customer may not have the financing or house has inspection problem (crude guess).

Xiao Shing Iching computation and analysis

House of 4 (sun hexagram) contains tui metal. There is a shortage of money or financial loss. Chi are going down, prices are dropping.

Hexagram 28 is lake above the wind. Things are difficult. The burden is high and action must be taken.


House of 5 is hex 33 retreat, wait for another opportunity or give up

There is definitely a certain urgency for the house to be sold.

I think maybe the house price could be a little high. Looking around the country is not in the best states. We are whiling to drop the price significantly but the offer we have gotten is lower than we had all agreed upon the lowest price.
There is also repairs to be done to the house, the buyer knows of these, we had the house inspected. Maybe there is something we havent realized. He wants to build in the space and a second floor as well, so perharps he cannot afford the house and the price of the type of remodeling he wants to do.

The performance of the realstate agent is a bit so so, she mentioned to the client the lowest price we would take therefore, showing him our moves in the negotiation part of the process.

In terms of the void months. Is there any way of knowing when will be it a open month? is there a certain amount of void months you get in a year? The house has being in the market since March, but like I mentioned the country is messed up.

Is it best to settle for this offer? compromise for the lower price. Hexagram 28 - ¨things are difficult. The burden is high and action must be taken¨

wait for another oportunity or give up.... Hmm my mam said this to me when I asked her what she would do. She said it is better to have the bird in your hands than it in the sky. I think she is refereing to it is better to settle now and start investing that money, than it being just a dream in the sky.

I have a business I want to start and my mother wants to buy somewhere small to live. So I am not sure how much is worth waiting for an open month.

I think this has left me with more questions. The answers long yi gave are extremely accurate, but the yi is describing the times for me. It is not pointing towards the correct path, to wait or to sell for the lowest price. - unless the action of hexagram 28 is the answer pointing.

Real estate (house) are normally list at xx9,000, xx8,000, xx7,000 (7,8, & 9 rule) and if it does not sell, the next drop goes to xx3,000, xx3,000, xx1,000 (3,2, & 1 rule). There are no 4, 5, 6 in the magic listing price. The 4, 5, 6 numbers are left for the buyer.

If the buyer offers 4 or 5 or 6 in the xx#,000 arrangement. The seller can accept as is or use the list price to subtract the difference and add back 50% of the difference. In todays' market, it may be xx70K to 90K instead of xx7K to 9K if it is an expensive house.

If the buyer wants to walk, then it is up to the listing agent and buying agent to try to reach a deal between those prices.

Back to Time Domain analysis

The current month is you metal. Counting forward is xu earth, hai water, zi water, chou earth, then yin wood (Feb 2018), mao wood (Mar 2018).

There was an error in my post. It should be shen metal day with chou earth day void. Child line (buyer) is the chou earth (day void means on buyer on the day of shen metal).
Thus if you count forward the day: shen metal, you metal, xu earth, hai water, zi water, chou earth (Oct 5). Starting Oct 4, the buyer is no longer day void. On Oct 5, buyer is strong under chou earth (potential customer) and chou earth is day commander.

Earth (customer) produces metal (money) to consider offering.

Chou earth + si fire + you metal = effect of metal (money)
si fire 30.6 is your realtor
chou earth 30.2 is your customer
you metal 30.4 is the money.

Time domain factors

On the day of Xu earth (Oct 2 2017), xu earth couples with the house mao wood to give effect of earth (customer = earth). The customer may overlook the issue on the deficiency of the house.

If your relator is willing to co-operate, on the day of hai water (Oct 3), he takes action to convince the buyer to negotiate the buying price (perhaps drop his commission by $1000 (standard) to try to close the deal. Si fire (realtor) and hai water day collide quietly to set things into motion.

The the deal may have a chance on October 5 or day of chou earth (depending on your time zone) if all parties can agree to a price. As said, you will not get the price you originally ask for.

Concerning price negotiation and estimate of sales value, sometimes iching reading are used to estimate price return # back to the buyer and choosing the acceptable price. It works for new car purchase, but not sure whether it will work for house sales.
