I've found these forum posts really helpful as I've been learning about the I Ching. The oracle has been a great teacher while I've been in this confusing and challenging relationship, with someone I hope will be my life partner but I don't doubt that we have many obstacles to overcome first. He is Nepali, we met in Nepal and the past 6 months we've been separated due to the virus. But I feel it's for the best, as we had a lot to learn. He says he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, but sometimes I wonder if he really knows me well enough to decide that, and if I am really valued for who I am. He comes from an arranged marriage culture and for him, he has decided, and he will go through any obstacles - he isn't looking for the 'best' partner, it's about having someone to go through life with. It's so different from how I've grown up approaching relationships, and sometimes it seems like a fairytale, so easy to disbelieve.
I asked the I Ching, "how can I find out if he really loves me?" and the answer was Increase 42 lines 1 and 6 - > Uniting 8.
42 confuses me a little, and I wonder how 2 apparently contradictory lines can both be changing. How can it both be a good beginning, and the very harsh 6th line "ABSOLUTELY NO INCREASE IN THIS!"
Is increase about offering - about giving myself, rather than waiting for some kind of proof? He has told me so many times he wants to be with me. I guess I'm not used to a love with no expectations.
