{{DATE: 01/07/2018}}{{TIME: 04:27}}{{TYPE: Yijing Reading}}{{TITLE: how can i have career clarity}}{{PRIMARY HEXAGRAM: 24}}{{LINE(S): 1 3}}{{NOTES: }}I like how both hexagrams are earth with something within: thunder within supported by mountain within. This seems like an auspicious reading and like I will soon know and attract beneficial people to help develop me. A bit concerned about the tone of 24.3 - perhaps it is a warning that I will regress or be complacent (too much "returning" and not enough forward movement). I am currently approaching my 5th month of sobriety so I am starting to fear relapse rather than desire it! The phrase "returning" makes me also think that I may return to the American town that I left or perhaps return to China (I'm chinese-american) --- in any case return to places that I have left which brings me joy because I miss most/all of them. I have been meditating and praying for geographic, relational, and career clarity for a long time and I feel like I have too many questions/intentions so in today's meditation I just set it all aside and opted for a simple request to the universe for self-acceptance (funny that I receive the supporting card of Integrity). I find it auspicious that shortly afterwards I gave a friend an I Ching reading and stumbled upon this website while researching the reading I was giving her. I decided to cast a reading for myself and I love that there's an option to share! I would be most curious to hear what other, more experienced readers think of this reading about what the most important thing I can do right now to achieve career clarity would be.:claps:

since it's not letting me edit

some background for the reading:I'm 29, Chinese-American, and currently in treatment after experiencing a psychotic break. Thanks to the program I'm in I have almost 5 months of sobriety, but I've been wracked with indecision and anxiety about who I am, what I want to do, what my life is without drugs, whether I want to go back to the city I love (Philly) or go to China/Taiwan because of my ancestral pull there, etc. I have decided that of all the questions I have the career question is probably most important because relationships and geography will sort of resolve themselves if I figure this one out.I'm good at a lot of stuff (English major) but I've never been able to stick at anything. I have a bit of writing (poetry and essays) published, and I've read at some readings. I've taught SAT, done college prep, and also studied massage and worked a bit as an LMT. I feel like I'm an artist/healer but I don't know how to manifest a profession that integrates all the parts of me--queer, nonbinary, multicultural, and still very much working on myself.

Hi

I think the reading is reflecting what you have stated, hexagram 24 for me rarely or more like never has actually meant a physical return. Someone out there may disagree, but here I can only advise on what I have experienced.

One of the first times I remember receiving Hexagram 24 I got it in a relation break up, I thought oh great. The person is returning, I could not have been further from the mark.

Its generally meaning to me is to get back on the correct path. Return to looking after yourself, its a time when you need spoil yourself by maybe doing things you trully enjoy, like visiting your favourite restaurant.

To me hexagram 24.1 is saying there is no real danger now if you keep doing what your doing, or no real damage has been done as yet.

However 24.3 could be a very strong warning that you have a potential to fall off the wagon, so be careful.
.
Wu: He who regains Return after repeatedly losing it will be in a perilous position, but blameless. [The person seems to be unable to stay on course, but manages to correct his error every time as soon as he knows it. A combination of vacillation and endeavor to be right earns him a passing grade.]

As soon as you get those feelings about slipping, you need to correct them or you will have no chance of any career. Saying this the answer to your question is you are back on path to some sort of career (24.1)

I have battled with addiction myself, so I know what you are going through, 5 months sober is really well done, so try not to blow it.

To give you an example one day after work, I thought I would have a couple of drinks just a few, 48 hours later I came out of the dream across town in a 24 hour bar broke.
Just remember how delicate the situation is, or how far you have come. Its taking you 5 months to crawl out of a 29 situation and could take you 2 days to go back 5 months.

24.3 is a strong warning I think not to make repeated mistakes and to me that sounds like addiction.

Good luck
Steve
