Ok, I don't have much weight to lose. 5 kilograms to get back in shape. But sometimes, you know, the pounds closest to your weight are the hardest to lose.

I had made a commitment this summer, without ever interrupting and with great seriousness I followed a balanced diet and not too testatory for me. let's say the right. But the weight loss was slow. So my dietitian (also my friend) advised me to remove the bread (but not for breakfast !!) and be very careful with the oil. It didn't change much.
then there were the holidays and I took 3 kilos (very long vacations during which I studied ... a summer school).

Now I have no faith in the diet, it's like I don't believe it anymore. I'll play a game then I'll go back to eating normally. Fortunately I'm not greedy and I eat properly (no alcohol, sweets, snacks, sugary drinks ... nothing of all this forever. And I don't smoke).
But a real diet is different ... and I don't feel like doing it anymore.

I ask the book for advice: how can I get back the motivation to stay on a diet?

Uncomfortable answer could not give it to me.

I'm desperate, help me understand you please!

Thank you so much
F.

I was just noticing that the first hexagrams all advise perseverance, particularly hexagram 4:

1 How to get back the motivation?...Persevere!

2 Uh, You asking again? I just told you... Persevere.

3 If you persevere you’ll get past this confusion.

4. I refuse to give you any new information until you demonstrate your understanding of the last advice I gave you. (hint: it has to do with perseverance)

So as a diet tip I think the I Ching is saying...

Persevere!!!

Have you never watched that movie What Women Want

Haven't seen it.
Though If I'd had that power of his,
I would have avoided a few major calamities.
(Such as literally having a limp for ten years now.)

Could it be that you had already asked the question?
5 mounth ago I asked “what can I do to lose weight?”
and the answer was 30 unchaining. I thaught to burn fat: play sports.

But I’m always si tired and no more time to play my favorite sport. So yesterday I asked how to find motivation and the answer was 4 unchained.
That’s it.

I lost in the past some pounds easily by getting food inspiration from gaugegirltraining on YouTube. She has some interesting content about body types and metabolism but I mostly used the channel to learn what type of meals to make. I found that eating balanced and not starving myself was the way to go, also eating breakfast helped a lot.
Also I lost most of that weight and I did not even do sport, I only started a bit after dropping most of it. Just like you I did not have to lose a lot of weight, only a few kg.
Hope this helps, Fortuny.

30 is about motivation, aligning one's inner fire with an outer goal, so it's certainly a suitable response to this question. Unchanging could be pointing out that you feel a lack of motivation. The lines could give hints for how to create and maintain it:

30.1 You need to be clear about what you want and have a plan.
30.2 This clarity will give you a jump start.
30.3 But then comes the tricky part when you see how far off your goal is - how to stay motivated here and now.
30.4 Too strict a diet can lead to burn out.
30.5 Focus on the success, not on the suffering! It might be good to have a diet partner you can share your triumphs and frustrations with.
30.6 And just as it's important to start off knowing exactly what you do want, you must also be aware of avoiding contact with what you don't. Eliminate temptations.

The hexagram specifically says, "Care of the cow brings good fortune." I wonder if this is encouraging you to take care of your body or perhaps it means follow a vegetarian diet?

Anyway, all in all 30 seems to advise that to be successful in your weight loss ambitions it would help to have a clear goal and game plan. This will give you an initial motivation. The big problem seems to be how to maintain it over the long haul. Trying to accomplish your goal too quickly with too harsh a diet will only lead to burn out. Celebrate success and keep your mind off the hardship! Finally, don't have forbidden foods around or socialize with friends who encourage you to go off your program.

4. Persevere!

it's all clearer now!

however:
I don't usually have temptations at home because I never buy junk food, simply because I don't consume it;
I love pasta and I never eat it when I follow the diet;
perhaps it is true that I impose too strict a diet, more than I am told. I do it because small concessions would become great temptations for me. So, for example, I don't eat 60g of pasta otherwise I would want to eat 100 and I would probably end up doing it!
The big problem for me is social situations with friends. I can't follow the diet, so I avoid going out for dinner or a drink with friends, most of the time. But not always.

This is my self-sabotage model. Thanks Rosada for helping me locate it!
