How do I repair the damage? (with X)

Hexagram 19.4 into Hexagram 54.

Hexagram 19.4 reads 'they come together', but does not say much more in terms of meeting each other or interacting. Hexagram 54 says do not take action if I am correct.

Hmm, that's different from how I initially interpreted it especially since I haven't actually met this person yet. When I said repair the damage I was referring to initiate a friendship since we would catch glances at each but none of us acted since we were both skeptical and the year ended before I wanted/decide I want to make a move. So "repair damage" refers to me not making a move I probably should've but didn't because I hesitated. I guess I worded the question stupidly. I would never actually compete with her or go with a closed mind. I guess I was trying to ask if I should act if I see this person, and I was confused since hex 19 is positive and 54 is "don't take action" in some sort.

You want to change the question now? Questions make a difference.

But if the question was "How do Initiate a friendship" the same advice applies I think.
Bring them into your circle. Look at their abilities as reason enough, don't be cliquish.

And 54 - don't compete for their attention or affections, if you try to "bury" the competition (the line in the Yi is "undertakings bring misfortune"), whether it's a friend or activity, it will bring misfortune.

I agree that the question does matter so I changed the question into How do I initiate a friendship?

Received Hexagram 26.2 into Hexagram 37.

Hexagram 26 is about restriction and line 2 hints that there is no good in trying to fight an uphill force in your path. I guess it says relax and stop trying to initiate anything. On the other hand, Hexagram 37 I am not sure what that means in this context although it sounds a hexagram for cooperation or compatibility.
