Dear all,
this cast was very significant and I want to leave it here, especially for those who love cats.

Some time ago, when I had only one cat, I took my girl cat on holiday with me so as not to leave her alone at home. I had made this decision because the previous year at home alone during my holidays she was depressed and when she saw me back home she pooped for happiness, while running happily through the apartment. the sitter told me that she had been depressed after the first week, but that on the day of my return she had picked up something and was very excited. I swore to myself that I would avoid as much as possible to leave her alone.

Therefore, my holidays this year seemed ideal: 2 hours drive, and a holiday immersed in nature.

to make his days happier I carried the cat in my backpack while I was walking around the hotel. Sometimes I let her explore the garden holding her on a leash.

in one of these "excursions", however, the collar loosens from the cat's neck, which goes into hiding in a rose bush. Immediately I try to catch her, but the longer I stretched my arms and hands, the more she blew and screamed at me. I insisted on trying to catch her and so she started biting me harder, more and more. an endless struggle, until he ran away into the woods.
I found her again a little later, she had slipped her head into a hole and I was able to retrieve it.

My hands were completely bloody, I looked like something out of a Tarantino movie set. I'm not kidding. My hands became infected and for a week I had to treat myself with antibiotics and ointments.
for 3 days the fact did not look at me in the face.

A few months later, I asked Yj: how does my cat feel with me now?

21.2> 38

In my opinion he had given me a good punishment and perhaps since then our relationship has changed for the worse.

So sad for her 🐾

P.Š. I took another cat to keep her company and now I will never take her away from home and on vacation.

Yay!

I'm sorry you got scratched like that. Cat scratches can land people in the hospital.

how does my cat feel with me now?

21.2> 38

'Biting into meat so your nose disappears.
Not a mistake.'
(Hilary's translation)

I think Yi's telling you she'd do the same thing again if it seemed necessary. Or at least that scratching you to ribbons that time was not a mistake, in her eyes.

Cats are not people (hexagram 38) - they might purr and snuggle and seek out our company, but we're still aliens to them. If she's terribly scared and feels threatened like that day, she's a cat and she'll defend herself in cat ways, even against her beloved human. (We'd do the same, actually...I mean, if you thought a human loved one was trying to harm you, even if you were thoroughly mistaken, how would you react?)

I don't think Yi's telling you she hates you, or feels any differently towards you overall than she ever did. It was a momentary thing, when she was frightened half to death and in a strange place.

She didn't scratch me, she bit me. she never scratches, she bites like a dog! that's why I liked the cast, the bite, the soft flesh that the nose disappears.

I remember her eyes in those moments: it was as if she couldn't help but do that thing. as you say, exactly.

thanks!

Are you familiar with bach flower essences? You can get them online or at a health food store. There are 38 different essences for dealing with all emotional issues. The one called Holly is particularly for forgiveness and restoring love. The one called Rescue Remedy is for crisis situations. Animals respond particularly well to flower essences.

Hello Rosada!
No, I’m not familiar with Bach flower essences, but it doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t try!

It's been over a year since that terrible episode, and now there are two cats. The female has always been shy and very afraid. I always say that it makes me feel sorry to see her this way because it is evident that her anxiety to the world prevents her from enjoying her curiosity.
Since then came the male, who instead is a true dominant cuddly, she has almost completely stopped interacting with us humans: she no longer plays with us but at least plays with the other cat.
I take care of her and I manage to catch her to brush her teeth and do all those human mother things ... She lets her do it for a while but then she runs away. So no cuddling for me, just a few headlines to get the food.

I'd like to give her more love, but maybe she likes so and I respect her. She is the first cat of my life, I love her deeply since the first moment our eyes touched through the bars of her cage.
That holiday episode tormented me and I feel so guilty with her.

Oh my. I feel for you. :( Being attacked by a fearful cat is something I wouldn't wish to anybody. It's HORRENDOUSLY PAINFUL!

It happened to my twice, in a very similar situation (holiday house in the countryside, cause, yes, the cat goes where I go too :). ) Both times trying to separate him from other animals, another cat, and last month, the neighbour's dog who probably just wanted to sniff him but my cat was on a leash, couldn't escape and when I tried to disentangle him he attacked me viciously. I had both of my arms literally ripped apart, had to run to the ER, anti-tetanum shot, antibiotics, infection, medication 3 times a day for 2 weeks... after 1.5 month some of the scars still ache  And I was lucky. Cat bites are dangerous indeed.

But you know what, my cat "knew" he had injured me badly. He just knew it, and tried to comfort me the night when it happened. It has nothing to do with us, it's simple redirected aggression. In my case, he probably thought the other animal had attacked him, in your case he probably got really scared, but there's no way he doesn't know you love him and that you didn't want to hurt him. He just expressed his fear on you. I'm 100% sure of this, you have no reason to feel guilty, I promise you.

I have the definitive certainty that my cat loves to be fed by me: this morning while I gave him the croquettes he was making cookies! Love!!

Regarding water: I put the cat fountain and it works great! They drink so much that when I had the only girl cat I had her do blood tests to investigate diabetes. But she’s very healthy! she just likes drinking from the fountain. My cats go from 8 to 12 times a day (when I see them). I also use specific water that is given to humans with kidney problems.

Furthermore, we are monitoring the male's kidney problems because creatine levels were just mentioned and perhaps (I hope) were due to inflammation of the mouth.

GreenHazel, how are your arms now? it's terrible what happened to you I know, but I bet you didn't even think about leaving the cat for a second while he attacked you.

GreenHazel, that's both horrifying and sweet.
Thank you Liselle  the things you do for your cats, huh?

That's great! I tried it too, but as with all "technological" things I buy for my cat it just didn't work
He just sniffs them, then looks at me with that annoying look that just cats can give you which says "Am I supposed to be entertained with this?"
The animal shelter receives lots of gifts from us! :D

I'm ok now, thank you Fortuny . The doctor told me I was very lucky as I hade 16 very deep wounds and just a few got infected. But I can relate to your "Tarantino" image; my friend who came to help me, when he arrived he saw the floor covered in blood and went very pale, he said it looked like "The Shining" set

How about you, did you recover completely? It's a big scare, both for the cats and for us, isn't it.
But yes, you just do what you have to do to save them. And your idea of taking him outdoor with you is great, natural environments are the best "enriched" environment for cats! Perhaps next time try with a harness, they are safer for cats than collars. As for me, I decided I had enough of animal fights I'm building a very high fence! :p

Fortunately, my female cat, the first to experiment with the fountain, immediately understood and appreciated the gesture. before that he didn't drink. Then I learned that the water must be put away from food, something I didn't do before. The fountain is located in another place than the pappa and they like to drink ... the cats are so weird!

Oh yes all that blood !!! I have the scene in mind! I had dripped from the garden to my hotel room passing through the breakfast room to the door smeared with my knock to have my husband open for me. When he opened and saw me he paled, but I told him "Fiona ran away!" and in a moment we were out running in trails and splashes of blood. Tarantino would have appreciated and found inspiration!
Wow "Shining" but so much stuff !!!
I am cured in 2 weeks. I still have the imprint of his lovely teeth on my wrist where he had stuck me right (21.2> 38). She had been attached for quite a while. Then the fingers, the broken thumb nail has grown back healthy. I had bandaged hands for 1 week. But in the end, nothing serious and I have something to tell.
But, IMO, she was traumatized.
The cat was wearing a small dog bib but perhaps a string harness is better.
My husband absolutely doesn't want me to take the cat on a leash out of the house anymore. I'm sorry because I'm afraid they get too bored in the apartment.

I think it's great that you're trying to enrich their lives by taking them outside, but if it's this risky it's not good for either them or you. I have no idea what the solution is. 😟

Oh my goodness those are fabulous! 😃 😻 They may not all be possible, depending on where one lives. I'm lucky and have a balcony I screened in. My one cat used to spend hours out there. My current cats aren't interested, oh well.

I wonder if the simplest possible thing might be to get one of those perches that fasten securely to the wall beneath the window sill. Then cats could be right at the window, at window height, to look out more easily.

How about a Catio? even a small one....😻

It is so cool. But I don’t have a patio or a garden, I have a big balcony where my cats love to be.
But........The male is a bad boy: he always jump on the balcony railing and go to say “hallo” to the neighbors. It
wouldn't be a big deal if my apartment wasn't on the third floor. This scares me and makes me angry with the cat, but out of love for him I let him go to the terrace while I supervise him holding a water gun.
What do we not do for them?

The female is good, she simply sits on my patio chair or looks at the world like an old lady. Adorable.

Sounds familiar. It's hard to cat-proof things.

and makes me angry with the cat, but out of love for him I let him go to the terrace while I supervise him holding a water gun.
Maybe this won't happen, but is there any chance squirting him would make him jump the wrong way? To the neighbors?

...while I supervise him holding a water gun.

... I couldn't set foot on my balcony without being on my hands and knees.

No, I seriously love you both, ladies. 😄
Reading you 2, I instantly felt such a deep sense of belonging.

Yes, the water gun. Been there, bought the T-shirt. I carried a huge water gun with me for a very long time after the first time I got into the middle of a fight, the one with the other cat. It worked brilliantly, never seen another cat around. Just the dog. Sigh.

Hence, the catio and fence obsession. I'm lucky as I do have the space in the countryside while in the city where I live I don't even have a balcony! 😔 But if I had one... this is what I'd do...

A Urban Catio!! No water guns, no crawling on all four anymore ! 😃

No....I began to squirt him after many time I sai him jump. This
is a strategy and works well in preventing it from starting
jump. And so nothing .... I spend halfs an hours on my balcony like a cow boy standing on the patio of his property.

The urban catio in a good idea but but I can't put it on my balcony because of the rules of my condominium: I can't even put the washed clothes lying and dry in the sun or other furnishings fixed on the balcony. The facade of the building must remain exactly as it is. Only tables and chairs or outdoor armchairs are allowed. Not even transparent networks can put ... uff.
