How Does One Know If They Are Asking The "Right" ?

Hello All,

I've been taking stock in how I ask the Yi questions. I've read Hilary's info on the site, and taken suggestions from other's here as well (thank you all btw), and have incorporated it. However, I believe that I'm not always asking in the most effective manner. For me, I need to write about the thoughts and feelings surrounding a situation, then I usually come up with what I would like to know.

But I've learned I can't ask the Yi a question like I would a human-being (perhaps I'm off here, and if I am I'm willing to be taught otherwise:D). I'll give you an example: a job opportunity fell through recently, but I still have a chance to work with the woman that offered me a contract position, just in a different capacity.

What I really want to know is, is working with person X something I should go for. But this sounds too much like a "yes" or "no" question to me. I think I'm having trouble wording my questions. Does this have an affect on the answer?

So I ended up asking the Yi the question like this:

"Yi Jing, please show me if working with person X is something I should go for."

This is more of a statement than a question right? Hmmmmm. My answer was:

Hex# 29, 6-6 ---} Hex# 59

So, with the above being said, I'm wondering if the way I ask affects the clarity of the answer I receive? 6-6 doesn't sound too great, but Hex# 59 sounds pretty cool :).

I wonder if I asked the Yi this particular question another way, if I'd get a similar look into reality?

Thanks guys, I know I asked alot of questions in this post. Any help in regards to my method or the reading itself I would appreciate. Sometimes I feel like I just don't know what I'm doing with the Yi.

Kind regards,

First, I think you can ask any question that needs an answer, so just do it, I see no right or wrongs here concerning questions posed to the IC.

Hex 29.6 is saying that to get involved with this person will trap you in a state of imprisonment, so it is not something that you should go foe as there will be better alternatives in the future.

Sure, the way you put your question together is important, cuz some questions work better with the Yi than others. Like Willow said, there are no right or wrong questions, but it's way easier usually to understand what the Yi is telling you if:

* you avoid yes/no questions. A yes/no question is one where the answer is either yes or no. For example: 'Should I go out with this guy?' It's not that it's wrong or stupid to ask yes/no questions, it's just that it's more difficult to understand what the oracle's saying to you in the context of that kind of question.

* ask open questions. For instance: 'What do I need to know about going out with this guy?' See, you're asking about the same situation (about going out with the guy) but if you use an open question instead of a yes/no question, it's easier to understand what the oracle's saying.

First off, thanks both of you for your assistance.

Willowfox, now I'm thinking this "imprisonment", is this something that would be caused from this persons character or from my own? I'm thinking about asking the Yi to ellaborate. Person X is a very knowledgeable person in her field with a great track record. My gut feelings are that this is a good opportunity.

How could I be so wrong?

My mind and heart are both saying...."so now what?". I tend to be obsessive about my work because I enjoy it so much. Could my obsessiveness be the prison?

The story continues...

No, actually working with this person will cause the bad feelings, the feelings that you are trapped in a nasty situation of your own making which you, for some reason, will be unable to leave.

But, be warned, no one here is saying what you should or should not do in this situation, if you truly feel that she is right for you then do it, the IC is only advising, not dictating.

If you gut feelings are that this is a good opportunity, then why did you consult the Yi? Where is the uncertainty coming from? Do you tend to be indecisive about important choices, or do you have a doubt about this situation somewhere?

Hey Dobro,

I always consult the Yi regarding major decisions, because I don't ever want to have my own prejudices cloud my decision making process. Or fall completely in love with an idea or plan, and become closed minded like I see with so many business owners.

Where is the uncertainty coming from?

My past experiences. An opportunity "looks" and "feels" great...but really it's a trap.

Do you tend to be indecisive about important choices, or do you have a doubt about this situation somewhere?

I'm just very cautious when making major decisions and important choices in my life. I figure the Yi is one way for me to shake me loose of any preconceived unrealistic expectations.
