How intuitive is my reading?

Hello all,

Well, as some of you may know I'll be moving this week to Florida. Thanks to those of you who have helped along the Way.

I received some very disturbing news today(4-17-05). As some of you are familiar with my past living situation, my prior roomate was an extremely irresponsible human-being. Especially when it came to the dog. A mutual friend today told me that my ex-roomate will stop at nothing to get his dog back...even coming all the way down to Florida.

Not to take up anyone's valuable time if you are new to my situation, but, my previous roomate is an extremely unstable person. Moving on. O.K. so of course I consulted the Yi.

I would like to request your opinions and take on what I think I got. I feel I may too close to the situation to interpret it.

question:

"Should I have reasons to worry about Rodney this week in regards to Betty(my dog)? I want her to get Florida safely."

Hex#57- Sun/Wind
9 at the top...changing into Hex#48- Jing/The Well

I used Wu Jing-Nuan, Karcher, and Wilhelm as my source texts. What really stuck out in the Wu translation was the 9-6 line commentary:

"This is an omen of misfortune through carelessness."

But for who? Me or my ex-roomate? I think the Yi is addressing Rodney here, because the reason I took the dog was he never took care of her. Is this accurate?

Karcher talks about 9-6 as:
"This is not the time to penetrate the past. You will lose your possessions and your position. Leave it alone and be happy with what you have. If you start digging all over again, the way will close."

***Question- when I'm divining about a person other than myself, is the Yi addressing me or that person?

From the Karcher commentary I get for ME to basically leave well enough alone. I'm o.k., although I may feel completely justified in calling my old roomate up and saying you irresponsible *&*&^%!!!! Yi is telling me to chill. What do you think?

Wilhelm:
"The gentle. Success through what is small. It furthers one to have somewhere to go. It furthers one to see the great man."

Who is the great man here?

As far as Jing is concerned, I kinda got that no matter what my ex-roomate tries thinks won't change. The dog is staying with me. The well never changes, or am I just reaching here?

Part 2

Later in the day my friend calls again and says that Rodney is very serious about hunting me down and bringing his dog back. Question #2 for the Oracle was:

"Should I be concerned with Rodney or anybody else coming to Florida trying to take Betty away from me?"
*note: if you are reading this and are new to my situation I assure you that I did not steal this lovavble dog. But again, it's a very long story and I'm not a quick typist.

answer:

Hex#31 Xian/ To influence, To move...no changing lines.

From this hex I gather that by "taking a maiden to a wife brings good fortune" means that Betty (the dog) and I will be undisturbed. My "wife" here is Betty...or am I way off here folks?

Thanks all. Again I may be reading into this reading too much because I've had one hell of a stressful week

Hello all,

Well, I did a little more reading today in the Yi and I wasn't able to find any help in regards to asking the Yi about others, or other people's intentions. Is consulting the Yi about other people's intentions a violation? Any further thoughts would be most appreciated.

I don't think it is a violation Grndul, but the levels of consciousness that we probe when we use an oracle are similar to the dream levels.
In a dream it is often not so clear who is who. Identities are interchangeable. The boundaries between self and others - and between different others - are much less clearly defined than they are in the waking state. Someone you meet in a dream might represent an aspect of yourself, for instance.
So if you ask an oracle about the feelings, thoughts or intentions of someone else the answer is difficult to interpret because you don't know if the answer is really about the other. It could also be about you.
On the oracular and dream levels we are all one, more or less.

Hey Martin,

So, if YOU were consulted Yi about someone else what would you do? Any pointers on the subject? I know this is kinda strange because I've always consulted for myself. The few times I've consulted for others of course the subject was them.

Hi G,

How intuitive is my reading?
This seems like an answer to your question!
Frankly, i like the innovative way you are using the oracle. In x'ploring Yi, you do not have to only stick to "conventional" method because everyone has his own unique way of connection with Yi. Follow your intuition, and trust yourself if you have a gut feeling that it works.

Thanks Yly2pg1,

What do you make of my original reading above? Am I way off?

Of course, Yly is right Grndul, if you feel that it works go ahead. But answers to questions like these can be confusing. In a case like yours I would probably visualize me and my dog moving to Florida (or being there) and throw the coins without a specific question.
In case of doubt about the meaning of an answer I will generally assume that it's about me or what is close to me (the dog in this case). That might be wrong, but it's a good guideline, I think.
So I would probably hear in 57.6 something like "You are worrying too much about this, there is no need to figure out what Rodney is up to. It's not important. Leave him to his own schemes -if he has any - and go ahead".
Basically good news, at least that's what I hear.

I used to check with Yi about other's intention. It does work. Most of the time, it is quite accurate. A straight forward question like " What is he going to do with me?" or " what approach will he takes on this? etc etc.

Of course, sometimes it is not so 'ethical' to do that

, but what is really wrong with that, if you do not hurt anyone. Just to take precautions, right?

On Martin's view, it is quite true. Indeed true!

The basics is always the the most important.
A good mental settings like calmness, coolness or holding your emotions in check is the pre-requisite.

When i say intuition, i mean everyone has the ability to develop his own skills to tap his potentials within. You are obviously the one. Just like the Gipsy. They are trained! Collected-mind will be able to help us to navigate thru our life tunnel in hard time ... with the help of Yi.

it is written that to question the Yi with something you can answer through commonsense or previous knowledge is not a good thing.

From the Complete I Ching by Taoist Master Alfred Huang.

Hey all,

thanks everyone. Martin, I like this approach and I'm going to try it. I've found that the Yi has been very helpful as of late in my life tunnel. All these changes happening in my life have caused me to be a little of my square. That's o.k., I'm still amazed at how the Oracle helps us peek behind the fabric of reality to understand ourselves just a little bit more

Dear Grndultimte

Thanks for sharing your questions. As to the first one: I think that in this case, the evil/harmful forces have to refer to Rodney, which would make you the one that tries to look for them everywhere. I agree with Martin that you need to let it go. Maybe you're too scared and/or obsessed with him since he's been such a threat, which is dangerous because it causes you to loose your basic feeling of safety. I have been stalked once. After the real threat is taken care of, you have to let it go at some point, emotionally, in order to survive. It looks like the greatest danger at this point is not in real world threat, but in your emotional state. By which I don't mean to say that it's your fault, you must have had a very hard time and I guess you're just completely tired by all the stress and anxiety.
As to the future, I'm not too familiar with sign 48. My feeling about it would be positive, I think a well represents basic nourishment among other things.
As to your second question: I agree with your interpretation. It doesn't look dangerous.

This was my first online interpretation; I think it's very special. Thanks for sharing.

Femke

(By the way: any chance that the "Great Man" might represent all of us...?!)

I think I'm mind f***ing myself as we say here in the states
